Emma Palmer - Public Page

Emma Palmer - Public Page Bristol-based author, psychotherapist, ecopsychologist, supervisor, facilitator. I am a regular writer for Somatic Psychotherapy Today.

People coming for therapy are often working with loss and bereavement, healing trauma, spiritual work and crises, struggling with depression and work-life balance, through to ecopsychological crises. Some clients are new to therapy, others are themselves in training as counsellors or psychotherapists. I supervise the work of other therapists and body workers working in both private practice and organisational settings. I also facilitate meditation, Buddhism, ecopsychology events and Wild Therapy workshops. In the past I've been part of the training collective offering the three year training in Embodied-Relational therapy (a form of Body Psychotherapy) and Wild therapy with Allison Priestman, Jayne Johnson, Nick Totton, and Stephen Tame at Erthworks (erthworks.co.uk)

I am also author of 'Meditating with Character' and 'Other than Mother: Choosing Childlessness with the Earth in Mind' and many other journal articles.

Therapy and ecopsychology friends & workmates, genealogy & ancestry friends, all folk interested in intergenerational healing, I highly recommend this course from Ancestral Medicine starting May. It offers a rich combination of recorded lessons, live calls, live Q & A and an online community forum. There’s lifelong access to material, so you can go at your own pace…

Remembering and sending so much love this Valentine’s Day to all the children caught up in the wars of adults. And all the children in adult bodies, with harsh words, guns, missiles and all manner of killing ‘technology’, because violence is all they knew in their childhoods. I so appreciate that the effects of intergenerational trauma have become so widely recognised in my life working as a therapist - and, crikey, what a back log we’ve got to heal. Let’s keep on keeping on 🙏🏼

Happy birthday to my first born book, ‘Meditating with character.’ 12 years on I’m glad this book continues to be read, particularly given the chaos and violence (yes, and there’s beauty and love) that’s raging in the world. Anything that helps us - even in a small way - to sit still and gather and be present, doing that in a way which offers a deepening of our understanding of the joys and challenges of our particular shape of incarnation has got to be worth a go. Knowing our similarities and differences, seeking curiosity rather than hardening into polarisation. Love to all this Saturday.
