🎄🧠 Some Festive Fun at Silver Trees! 🎅❓

​It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas this afternoon at Silver Trees as we held a festive Christmas Quiz!

Our residents put their thinking caps on and tested their knowledge on everything from carols and films to Christmas traditions. We even had a classic picture round with a twist: all the celebrities were wearing a Christmas hat and a Santa beard! There was lots of laughter and great teamwork as everyone tried to be crowned our Christmas champions! Well done to all the wonderful brains who took part! 🥇

✨ Moving Our Bodies, Boosting Our Spirits! 💪😊

​It's been lovely getting back into our usual routine here at Silver Trees this morning!

​We kicked off our activities schedule by getting everyone moving with a brilliant session of armchair exercises! It’s the perfect way to start the day, helping to keep everyone active, flexible, and in great spirits. 🌟

​What a wonderful day we've had celebrating the lovely Pauline's birthday at Silver Trees! 💖

​The staff team gathered in her room this afternoon to sing a very enthusiastic 'Happy Birthday' chorus. Watching her joyfully blow out her candles was just fantastic! 🕯️ Everyone at Silver Trees hopes you have the most special day, Pauline! We loved giving you your card and seeing your lovely smile. 🥰

🎄✨ Silver Trees Christmas Party Highlights ✨🎄

Our amazing Silver Trees team enjoyed a truly lovely Christmas party, filled with laughter, great food, and wonderful company. It was a well-deserved chance to relax, celebrate the festive season, and spend time together outside of work.

A huge thank you to each and every member of staff for your hard work, dedication, and compassion throughout the year. We are incredibly proud of our team and grateful for everything you do for our residents and families every single day. 💙

🌿 Update: Normal Visiting Resumes 🌿

We are pleased to share that Silver Trees Care Home has now been 48 hours symptom-free of D&V.

As a result, the home will be open to normal visiting from tomorrow, Saturday 13th December 2025. 💚

We would like to thank all relatives and friends for your understanding, patience, and continued support during this time. The health, safety, and wellbeing of our residents, visitors, and staff remain our priority.

We kindly ask that visitors continue to:
🧼 Use hand sanitising stations on arrival and departure
🤒 Avoid visiting if feeling unwell

We look forward to welcoming you back and returning to normal routines.

Your Ideas Welcome! 💡✍️

​The Silver Trees Activities Team is always looking for new ways to make life here even more fun! That's why we’ve introduced a brand-new Suggestion Box! 🎉

​We want to hear from everyone—residents, visitors, and staff—about any suggestions or ideas you might have to enhance our home life.

​The box is located in the Activities Room (first floor), complete with paper and pen. Please feel free to pop in your proposals and ideas any time you have a brilliant thought!

🌟 Update for Our Relatives and Friends 🌟

We are pleased to share that we have now had 24 hours with no symptomatic residents. This is a very positive sign, and we remain hopeful. However, we do require another 24 hours symptom-free before we can safely confirm that the outbreak is over and that the home can fully reopen as normal. We will keep you updated.

🗓️ Relatives Meeting – Postponed
Due to the challenges we faced this week and the short notice around the planned meeting, we have made the decision to postpone the Relatives Meeting to early next year.
The meeting scheduled for Sunday 7th December (which did not take place) and the upcoming meeting on Sunday 14th December are now both cancelled.

Instead, we will be emailing all relatives a summary of the key points we intended to discuss. Please feel free to email us any questions you may have, whether about the meeting topics or anything else you wish to raise.

🎄 Christmas Preparations
Over the next couple of weeks, our team will be very busy preparing for Christmas, wrapping presents, completing decorations, and making the home as festive and joyful as possible for our residents. We know many of you will also be busy during this time, so holding the meeting early next year will be more suitable for everyone.

Keeping Spirits High! ✨

While we can't gather together right now, the activities team went on a grand tour of the home today, visiting every resident in their room with the Tuck Shop trolley! 🍬🍫 Everyone had a chance to pick their favourite snacks and have a lovely chat.

​It's all about finding new ways to bring smiles to our residents' faces. Thank you for your continued support and understanding! We can't wait until we can all be together again.

📢 Important Update for All Relatives & Friends of Silver Trees Care Home

Further to the emails sent regarding the viral diarrhoea outbreak within the home, please be advised that Silver Trees remains closed to routine visiting until further notice.

Our scheduled Relatives’ Meeting has been postponed to Sunday, 14th December 2025 at 11:30am.
If anything changes before this date, we will update you immediately.

To help prevent the spread and keep everyone safe:
• Meals are currently being provided in residents’ rooms
• Group activities are suspended, with 1:1 personalised activities offered instead
• Relatives may visit at their own risk, and PPE and sanitising stations are available on both floors

Thank you for your continued understanding, cooperation and support. This is a viral matter, and we are taking all necessary precautions to protect our residents and staff. 💙🙏

📺 Documentary Morning 🎞️

Today our residents enjoyed settling in for Part 2 of the fascinating documentary “How the BBC Began.” A couple of weeks ago we watched Part 1, so everyone was excited to continue the story and learn even more about the early days of broadcasting.

There were lots of great conversations afterwards—memories shared, facts debated, and plenty of smiles. It’s always lovely to see how these documentaries spark interest and connection.

​Today, we had our very popular Bingo afternoon here at Silver Trees! 📢

​The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement! We had lots of concentration, cheers, and excitement every time those numbers were called out. Congratulations to all our lucky winners who walked away with some snacky prizes! 🏆
