✨Messages for the winter Solstice from the Challice Well Glastonbury, citing Wellesley Tudor Pole & Alice Buckton who wrote the play Eager Heart that Abdul-Bahá (Son of the Founder of the Baha’i Faith) watched on December 22nd 1912 at Church House in Westminster whilst visiting from the Holy Land in 1912 and having stayed as a guest at Wellesley Tudor Pole’s family guest house at Royal York Crescent, Clifton Bristol.
✨This was the first Western dramatic performance Abdu'l-Bahá had ever attended. The play was a Christmas mystery written by British poet and playwright Alice Buckton, a close friend of Tennyson.
✨The play depicted the life and sufferings of Jesus Christ and Abdu'l-Bahá was reportedly moved to tears during the performance, particularly during a scene where the characters, representing the Holy Family, were met with hesitation by "Eager Heart" when seeking shelter.
✨After the performance, Abdu'l-Bahá met with the cast members, who were struck by his presence and his words regarding the spiritual significance of the events they had portrayed. He is also reported to have said that "The stage will be the pulpit of the future," recognizing the powerful role of drama in spirituality. 🌹✨
