Last night's a powerful geomagnetic disturbance ignited extraordinary auroras above Stonehenge 🌌

One of the strongest space-weather events in decades drove charged solar particles deep into Earth’s atmosphere, producing an unusually intense and layered display.

Brilliant greens dominated the lower sky, while higher-altitude emissions blossomed into rich tones of magenta, crimson, violet, and faint turquoise — forming towering columns and drifting veils that stretched hundreds of kilometers above the surface.

Beneath the glowing sky, the ancient stones stood in stark silhouette, as this rare alignment of solar energy and atmospheric conditions transformed a prehistoric monument into the foreground of one of the most visually striking auroral events seen in over 20 years.
