Whether you’re looking for ongoing assistance from a full-time live-in carer or the flexibility of a visiting carer, we can provide the right level of support for you. Helping Hands Home Care in Bristol covers a large area of the South West, providing live in care in Kingswood, Southmead, Henleaze, Henbury, Filton, Stoke Gifford, Bradley Stoke, Clifton and the surrounding areas. The dedicated and

skilled team provide many aspects of care, from companionship and housekeeping, through to providing more complex clinical support for individuals with conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, MS, spinal injuries, acquired brain injuries and those who have experienced a stroke. This care can be carried out in short 30 minute intervals, through to a couple of hours or even full time live in care in Bristol, all of which are regulated by the CQC.

Emma recently joined Helping Hands in April as part of our Live-in Care team. We spoke with her to learn about her journey into care and what a typical day looks like:​

“I was inspired to become a Carer after watching my mum care for the elderly when I was growing up and helping take care of my late nanna.

My typical day starts around 7am, preparing breakfast and medication, tidying the house, doing laundry, and supporting my customer with washing and dressing. If she had any appointments, I would drive her or if she wanted to go into town I'd accompany her. I would prepare her evening meal and assist when she is ready to go to bed.

My biggest pleasure is to see my customers happy and being able to live a fulfilled happy life in their own home, no matter their age or disability. This job is a rewarding role and knowing you make someone happy is the best feeling in the world.”

We caught up with James, a valued member of our Live-in care team, who gave us a glimpse into a day in his role.

He also shared what inspired him to become a carer, and offered advice for anyone considering this rewarding career path:

“I was inspired to become a carer through my personal experiences supporting family members in need. Witnessing the positive impact that kindness and assistance can have on someone’s quality of life made me realize how rewarding and meaningful a caring role can be. I’ve always had a natural desire to help others, and becoming a carer felt like a natural path for me.”

“If you're thinking about becoming a carer, I would say go for it—especially if you are compassionate, patient, and genuinely enjoy helping others. It's a role that requires empathy and dedication, but the personal rewards are truly priceless. Making a difference in someone’s life, even in small ways, is something very special.”
