Injury of the Month: Lateral Ankle Sprain

Quick, sharp movements and awkward landings make this one of the most common injuries for basketball and tennis players.

What to look out for...
A lateral ankle sprain happens when your foot rolls inwards, stretching or tearing the ligaments on the outside of your ankle.
Usually caused by landing awkwardly, changing direction, or stepping on an uneven surface.

Common Symptoms:
⚡ Pain on the outside of the ankle
🦶 Swelling and bruising
🚫 Difficulty putting weight on your foot
🔄 Feeling of instability or “giving way”

Recovery & Treatment:
At Bristol Physio, recovery focuses on:
✨ Reducing pain and swelling
🏋️ Restoring strength and balance
🔁 Gradual return to sport-specific movement
🩺 Preventing future sprains with tailored rehab

Don’t let an ankle sprain keep you off the court — our expert physios can help you recover safely and return stronger.

Injury of the Month: Plantar Fasciitis

Ever felt a sharp pain that just won't go away? You know, the kind of pain that makes you dread getting out of bed in the morning or holds you back from your favourite run? This month, we're shining a light on a common but often misunderstood condition: Plantar Fasciitis.

What is it?
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that connects your heel bone to your toes. It’s a frequent cause of heel pain, especially in the morning or after periods of rest.

How can physiotherapy help?
Accurate Diagnosis: We'll perform a thorough assessment to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other conditions.

Pain Relief: Using techniques like manual therapy and targeted massage, we can help reduce your pain.

Rehabilitation Plan: We'll create a personalised exercise program to strengthen the foot and ankle muscles, and improve flexibility.

Preventing Recurrence: We'll address the root cause of the injury and provide you with the tools and advice you need to help prevent it from coming back.

Don't let Plantar Fasciitis slow you down!
If you're experiencing symptoms, don't wait for the pain to get worse. Our expert team at Bristol Physio is here to help you get back to the activities you love.

Book your assessment today and take the first step towards a pain-free life!

Helping you move well, feel well, live well!

Physiotherapy isn’t just for recovery — it’s for anyone who wants to stay active, prevent injury, and move with confidence.

📚 What the research says:
✅ Physio-led exercise improves mobility & reduces pain in many conditions (Cochrane Review, 2021)
✅ Strength & balance training can cut fall risk by 34% (Sherrington et al., 2019)
✅ Targeted rehab exercises reduce injury recurrence & boost performance (Lauersen et al., 2018)

At Bristol Physio, we combine expert assessment, hands-on treatment, and personalised exercise plans so you can get back to what you love — and keep doing it.
