🎉 A day to remember! 🎉

Last week, we had an incredible time celebrating together at our Centenary Garden Party with colleagues, volunteers, friends, and family at the beautiful Old Down Country Park.

A huge thank you to the amazing team there for going above and beyond to host such a spectacular day. From fun animal encounters and lawn games to delicious food, live music, and scenic views, every detail contributed to a day filled with laughter, joy, and connection.

We even got to watch some of our braver colleagues take to the stage for an open mic session – who knew our teams had such hidden talents!

This free well-being day was our way of saying thank you to our colleagues and volunteers for their commitment to creating communities where older people flourish. Your dedication is the reason we’re able to celebrate such an inspiring legacy.

Thank you to everyone who made it so special – here's to 100 years of care, and many more to come. 💜

Supporting the lives of older people in the West of England has been part of the vision of the St Monica Trust since it began over 100 years ago. Today our charitable giving team helps tackle a variety of issues by distributing hundreds of thousands of pounds to individuals, families and organisations across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath & North-East Somerset.

Our aim is to help older people live independently in their own community for as long as possible. We do this by helping individuals with financial support through our Individual Giving Fund.

The feedback we receive from the recipients of these grants and their support workers demonstrates the importance of this work and the impact it can have on individuals' lives.

To find out more about our grants, please visit our website: https://www.stmonicatrust.org.uk/charitable-foundation/our-grants

Caring for a hop brings people together, one watering can at a time. 🌱

Adopt a hop at either our Sandford Station or Cote Lane sites and connect with others in the process. Our hops need to be watered, weeded and looked after to help secure our centenary beer!

Our hop gardens are open to all - residents and their families, colleagues and volunteers. Activities are dementia friendly so everyone can take part meaningfully and safely.

Want to help? Email us at hoppiness@stmonicatrust.org.uk to ‘adopt a hop’ and get involved.

Just one week to go until our Centenary Garden Party! 🎉

Over the past 100 years, the St Monica Trust has grown and evolved thanks to the dedication of our amazing colleagues and volunteers, both past and present.

Next week, we’re thrilled to be hosting a Centenary Garden Party at the beautiful Old Down Country Park. This is a free well-being event for our colleagues, volunteers and their families to celebrate our Centenary.

This special day is our way of saying thank you to our colleagues and volunteers for their hard work and continued commitment to creating communities where older people flourish.

With a forest school, lawn games, animal encounters, delicious food, and live music, it promises to be a joyful occasion to connect, relax and celebrate all that we’ve achieved together.

We can’t wait to see many of you there!

We’re proud to share the impact of our Community Development Fund, which supported the West of England Rural Networkfor three years.

From arts and crafts to digital awareness, bereavement groups and Men’s Sheds, sessions supported by our funding brought people together, tackled isolation, and empowered residents in rural communities.

A big shoutout to WERN for their incredible work! 👏

Earlier this year, our team of SMT Striders took on the Walk of Life, walking 10 miles from Bradford-on-Avon to Bath in support of RUH Bath.

We are delighted to share the final amount raised – an incredible £6,076.49!

These funds will make a real difference by helping the hospital provide extraordinary care for patients and support their amazing staff in doing what they do best.

We would like to say another big thank you to everyone who donated, supported and walked for your fantastic contribution.

We would like to offer our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Robert Bourns who sadly passed away last week. Not only had Robert been a Trustee since 2022 and Chair of the Charitable Foundation Committee, but his mother was also a St Monica Trust resident for many years. He recently gave a reading at the Centenary Service of Thanksgiving held at Bristol Cathedral and the Trust is very grateful for Robert's immense contribution as a Trustee. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
