🌟 We’re thrilled to announce that Roisin Francis, our Care and Wellbeing Worker, has received the prestigious “I Think They Deserve It” Award at the Sirona Care & Health Excellence Awards 2025.

Roisin was recognised for her exceptional work supporting local resident Peter Dawson, following his long hospital stay after a serious fall. Through her dual role with BS3 Community Development and Sirona care & health, Roisin provided seamless, person-centred care. Peter said, “It’s like having a friend. We need a hundred Roisins, so everyone can benefit.” “While I may feel less able physically, in many ways I’m more confident now because I have had the right support. Roisin has changed my life. She treats me like a person, not just a client.”

At the ceremony, Sirona’s Interim CEO Julie Sharma praised Roisin for embodying Sirona’s values and really understanding Peter’s needs and putting him at the heart of everything she does.

Our CEO, Simon Hankins, added: “We are immensely proud of Roisin and the profound impact of her work with Peter and others. This recognition reflects not only her exceptional dedication and professionalism, but also the strength and value of the partnership between BS3 Community Development and Sirona care & health.

👋 Introducing Carla.
Carla Snell is the Care & Wellbeing Manager at BS3 Community Development, recruited in January 2024 to help develop and lead the innovative BS3 Community Care model. With a background in bringing health and social care together with the VCSE sector, Carla is passionate about building partnerships that genuinely benefit local communities and improve people’s access to tailored, flexible and consistent support that enhances social connections and quality of life.

Reflecting on the first year, Carla described it as “exciting, inspiring and community-driven”, with residents, families and professionals alike welcoming a service that reinvests everything back into the community rather than being wholly commercial and profit-driven.

Looking ahead, Carla says the first year has been challenging but hugely rewarding, and that momentum is now building for the next phase. With further exciting developments on the horizon, she is determined to see the movement grow: reimagining not just what care and support can look like for everyone, but also how people connect with others in their neighbourhoods and communities.

🌟 Befriending/companionship.
🌟 Respite or cover support for informal/ family carers.
🌟 Regular personal care support.
🌟 Pet care.

🎉 BS3 Community Care is celebrating its first anniversary!

The charity-led initiative has had an outstanding first year, having delivered more than 3,000 hours of personalised care and support to local residents since launching in summer 2024. Alongside supporting families and individuals, the initiative has also created self-employed opportunities for over 30 local care professionals and essential service providers.

The service is unique in its approach, carefully matching vetted providers to the individual needs of each client, ensuring consistent, reliable, and flexible support from familiar faces.
“Thanks to BS3 Community Care, my parents feel at ease, I feel supported, and we’ve all gained peace of mind from knowing they are receiving genuine, professional care.”
