Low back pain is something we see a lot of in clinic. Here’s some of the latest evidence that shows that we as clinicians can really help with the management of low back pain.

One of the most important objectives in my treatment approach is to help you understand your low back pain in the context of how/why you are experiencing it. Followed by the necessary steps to manage it.

A question I receive quite often - is running bad for your knees?

My answer is that there isn’t any strong evidence to suggest that it is bad for your knees!

In fact as this nice infographic shows.. there is evidence to suggest that it has a potential protective effect against the onset of knee osteoarthritis in recreational runners..

So lace up your favourite running shoes and go and protect your knees! 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ 💪

5 ways to minimise running injury:

Couch to 5k is a good place to start if you are new to running. However, if you are planning for an event these 5 points are worth considering in your running routine.

- Increase distance no more than 2%/week
- Include strength training
- On weeks with high volume reduce the intensity and on weeks with low volume then increase the intensity
- Adequate rest
- Healthy nutrition

About me

I graduated from the University College of Osteopathy (formerly the British School of Osteopathy) in London with a master’s degree. Prior to becoming an Osteopath, I ran my own business in London as a fitness professional and sports massage specialist before moving to Bristol in 2015.

After a knee injury I experienced first-hand the positive effects of osteopathic treatment. I was then inspired to pursue a career in Osteopathy and discovered the vast array of other conditions that can benefit from osteopathic treatment.

I enjoy treating a wide variety of complaints and have a particular interest in sports injuries. With all patients I use a range of osteopathic techniques to ease pain, restore movement and function, together with advice on exercise and nutrition to restore optimum fitness and well-being. I am committed to patient care and continue to develop my skills and knowledge by attending regular courses and keeping up to date with current research.
