After a whole season of play, the ultimate winner of the Cote Lane Resident’s Croquet Tournament came down to a thrilling tie breaker, with an extra hoop played in front of an enthusiastic audience.

Under stunning sunshine, the event was eventually won by Richard, who managed to defeat Frank with a spectacular finishing shot to the gathered crowd’s hearty approval.

Celebratory drinks all around were the order of the day, along with some good-natured rivalry over what might have been.

Here’s to next year!

What a week it’s been for residents at Cote Lane - Monday started with a wonderful evening performance by Bristol Brass Consort in aid of St Peters Hospice with donations totalling £315 received from those attending, so a big thank you.

Last night we were thrilled to have Pete Yelding (sitar) and Dhyan Singh (tabla drums), both local performers, playing live for residents at our Indian evening. The amazing food provided by our Catering Team, scene setting foliage from our Gardening Team, and just a little splash of colour all added to make an enjoyable evening.

Tonight, we are finishing the week with some more Indian influences, in this case a Sound Bath session in our beautiful Chapel, provided by Emma (Piccha Yoga and Sound) in case it was all too much in one week!

What an amazing day out yesterday when residents from four of our St Monica Trust villages met up for a memorable trip on the canal!

One of the last remaining horse-drawn barges in the country, the Tiverton Canal Company is an award-winning family-run attraction and proved to be a big hit on the day, and one we will be looking to revisit soon.

We enjoyed stunning weather and the day was completed for Cote Lane residents who had worked up a healthy appetite with a lunch stop at a nice café, near Tiverton.

Thank you to everyone who came along — and especially to Peter, our minibus driver, who stood watch and took these lovely pictures.

Members from our Resident Innovators Group are getting to grips with new technology and sharing their thoughts and expertise on new developments that we hope will contribute to shaping the lives of older people in the future.

On this occasion, our group will be testing a piece of equipment that examines patterns and quality of sleep over a 3-month period before reporting back on their findings.

It’s wonderful to have our residents working with our Centre of Innovation and contributing to making a real difference!

Work continues on the careful cleaning of the stonework on Oatley House and its beautiful chapel.

Clearly you need a head for heights in this instance, but the views are incredible, and the gardens are enjoying the chance of a light shower!

Just one of the many ways we care for the village's history and beauty.

Residents were thrilled by our Centenary celebrations which included a special Service of Thanksgiving at Bristol Cathedral and Centenary Garden Parties, which saw the best of the summer sunshine combine with a wonderful gathering across all our five retirement villages. The garden parties featured a live video link allowing everyone at St Monica Trust's various sites to feel part of this shared event.

Equally exciting was seeing residents themselves placed in the limelight when interviewed on camera and pictured on the BBC News website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy4yd280lj3o

An incredible event that will be remembered by everyone who took part.
