We were extremely fortunate to be able to welcome Peter Lord CBE, Director and Co-Founder of Aardman Animation Studios last week, who dropped into Cote Lane to give a talk to residents.

Peter’s wonderfully engaging talk took everyone back, either to their own childhood, or to that of their children. Covering the very beginning of Aardman when it was just three friends, then delving into the traditional stop-frame animation that we all know and love - Morph, Wallace and Gromit, and Chicken Run.

The talk was rounded off with news on Aardman’s latest and upcoming blockbuster releases due out later this year, Shawn the Sheep, and Pokémon Tales.

During the talk, Peter managed to make a ‘real Morph’, which was given away to an audience member following a drawing of tickets. The winner being Valerie, a long-term resident at Cote Lane, who was absolutely thrilled with her surprise new house guest.

Over the past few days we have been taking time to reflect and remember together at our Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day services.

This year also sees us marking Remembrance at Cote Lane with a trail through our parklands created by Volunteer Jacquie and her husband Tim.

The trail features areas for contemplation with a wreath, each accompanied by a poem, thoughtfully selected by residents.

This culminates within our chapel in Oatley House with more beautiful handmade displays and accompanying poems.

We Will Not Forget Them.

The Annual Christmas Craft Fayre at our Cote Lane retirement village was hosted earlier this month by our very talented resident-led craft group. The event featured an array of different stalls, including woodcrafts, handmade decorations, ceramics, cards, gifts, and a raffle full of prizes — not to mention the delicious homemade cakes, what a treat! It really was a fantastic day, successfully raising over £1,600 for charity. A big thank you to all those involved in the organising, setting up and delivery of the event. Let the countdown to Christmas begin!

Some of our residents had the great pleasure of being able to contribute to this lovely poem!
