She didn't think she was an "athlete."
Then she saw what her body was doing💪

She came in almost apologetically.
"I'm not sure this is even for someone like me," she said.

competes competively in HYROX. She enters events and pushes herself every single week.

But she didn't own the word athlete.
After her performance test, that changed.

Her data showed that her body was operating far beyond what her mind had given her credit for.

Her last half marathon was run at a 5:11 min pace, feeling comfortable. Her physiology says she's capable of running closer to 4:45.

She found out she needs a longer warm up than most, over 15 minutes before she hits her optimal. That she responds well to short recovery breaks. That her aerobic engine is quietly doing something impressive while her brain is still catching up.

We've tested a lot of athletes... but when we sat down to review Tai's data, even we went quiet for a moment😳

"This is without question the most impressive set of physiological data I have seen."

And what made it even more remarkable, Tai fully maxed out the treadmill. Something we almost never see.

Here's what the numbers showed:

→ Heart rate stayed low deep into the test
→ Lactate climbed slowly and cleared efficiently
→ Fat utilisation was exceptional, this athlete can run fast while staying completely relaxed

Aerobically, there was almost nothing to fault.

The data pointed to a potential of:
📍 2:38 marathon
📍 1:12 half marathon

The next chapter for Tai isn't about working harder. It's about closing the gap between LT1 and LT2 - targeted tempo and sub-threshold work to build speed sustainability on both climbs and descents.

To put 165.5 miles and 28,200 ft of elevation into perspective, that is the equivalent of climbing Ben Nevis almost 17 times, back to back, whilst running!

What she achieved at the Wild Horse Ultra 2026 is something that the majority of people could never even dream of attempting.

We are so incredibly proud of everything you have put into this journey Catherine...the training, the sacrifices, the early mornings and the hard days.

6 months later, she crossed the finish line of her first Ironman 70.3.

In tears. In disbelief. And already thinking about the full!
