The House of Pilates is run by Sara Ellis Owen (qualified Pilates Equipment and Mat Work teacher Level 3) who first became interested in Pilates over 20 years ago while working as a solicitor in London. Suffering from chronic lower back pain caused by scoliosis (curvature of the spine), she started one-to-one Pilates equipment sessions with a Stott qualified Pilates teacher and immediately saw the

benefits; after just 5 sessions she was amazed at the difference in her posture, alignment and core strength. Pilates quickly became an integral part of her life. Sara moved to Bristol in 2011 and decided to leave the legal profession to pursue her dream of teaching Pilates full time. Sara trained with the Physiotherapy and Pilates Rehabilitation Centre (affiliated to Alan Herdman) and has worked with a wide variety of clients, including people suffering from neurological and physical conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's, strokes and slipped discs. She is qualified as a Pilates Equipment and Mat Work teacher (Level 3) and runs a fully equipped studio at home. She is also qualified to teach Pilates to children and adolescents and has produced a bespoke online Pilates mat course - visit nextgenerationpilates.com for further details.
