Join the Half Marathon Club, Emma! 🤝🏼🥳

After completing her first half marathon (and therefore, a PB! 🛎️) Emma is back into mobility & conditioning training with me 📊

The day after a half marathon, light mobility & conditioning work helps increase blood flow, reduce stiffness, loosen tight muscles & speed up recovery — so the body can repair, rebuild & adapt properly 🏃🏻‍♀️🏁

It also helps maintain movement quality, reduce injury risk & gets us feeling fresher sooner, instead of sitting still & tightening up 🤸🏻‍♂️

Recovery is training too - Your body breaks down (muscle fibre micro-tears) in high intensity training & competition, then gets stronger in recovery 🛌💪🏼

Not every weekend is a PB weekend ! 😔😁

(Especially when it’s a hot race..!) 🥵

A new half marathon completed for my PT client Natasha who trains smart & consistently 🧠

We take into account the races coming up and adapt the strength & conditioning sessions accordingly 🏋🏻‍♂️

This allows for consistent, injury-free racing which takes the pressure off, but allows the performance to continue 📈

Natasha’s next race in the Bristol 10k this weekend, with the mindset of ENJOYING IT - not, trying to smash out a PB a week after a half marathon…! (Many runners should take note of this mindset !!)☝🏼💯😃

When your clients turn up in “matchy-matchy” outfits…! 😍😁

Newport Marathon legends Callum (2hrs 38mins) & Matt (2hrs 42mins) are back with me on their strength & conditioning training routine 🏋🏻‍♂️

Huge congrats to Matt for his marathon PB 🥇

And huge (but slightly less huge) congrats to Callum for his second fastest ever marathon 🥈😁

Ridiculously quick around any given course (they’re pretty nifty round a 5km, prom run, 10km & half mara as well, funnily enough…), their quick wit also keeps me on my toes..! 🎭😂

Many runners are (understandably) not too keen on the gym work (let’s be honest, we’d rather be out running) 🫤

But with a training buddy & my guidance to give their training purpose & meaning, everything changes 🤩

☝🏼 By creating a versatile & well rounded training plan, allowing the muscles, joints & bones of our main sport to recover, is the most effective way to achieve success

A very respectable 2hrs 54mins..! 😳😯

While James’ race didn’t quite go to plan (a calf tweak & scare meant a more conservative approach was needed), he still managed to shave time off his previous PB 🪒⏱️

James has worked consistently with me for his strength & conditioning training, as well as sports & rehab massage for recovery 🏋🏻‍♂️💆‍♂️

Huge congratulations to Clare, who’s been working hard to overcome some long-term injuries & completed the Boston Marathon on Monday 🇺🇸🏃🏻‍♀️🏆

Clare has been working on her strength & conditioning with me, to get her through the tough training blocks 🏋🏻‍♂️

Training & competing is never a nice “straight line graph” of improvement (even the elites & pro’s get injured !🤕), but we work on improving the hand we’ve been dealt with 🃏

As an added bonus, Clare may have even qualified in the GFA (good for age) for London Marathon next year (TBC - LDN quali times) ⏱️
