Don’t forget our Residents Picnic this coming Wednesday!

If you have a friend or relative residing with us, join us for a little al fresco (🤞) picnic.

We’ll have lawn games out and extra blankets for the kids and plenty of tea, coffee and squash. We only ask that you bring your own food.

If you have a relative or friend staying with us, why not join us for a little summer picnic?

Residents are busy making bunting to decorate and we’ll put out lawn games and picnic blankets if the weather permits.

Kids, Grandkids, dogs all welcome!

*Normal signing in procedures still apply. Please bring your own picnic, we’ll supply the drinks!

Our Residents Picnic is fast approaching!

If you have a relative or friend you visit there at Cholwell you are welcome to join us for a little picnic lunch Wednesday 27th August.

We aim to get as many residents as possible outside (weather permitting) and will have a few games out should any grandchildren and great grandchildren be visiting.

We will also be selling raffle tickets for our September Family Fest and Dog Show - some amazing prizes up for grabs; boat trip, overnight stay in Shepards Hut, vouchers and lots more, all kindly donated by local businesses.

This wonderful lady is currently 96 years young and resides with us here at Cholwell House.

It’s so wonderful to see photos of our residents from their younger days and hearing the memories they have attached to pictures like this.

It’s a precious window into what made them who they are and helps us deliver activities that will engage them.

Did you know you could get married at Cholwell House? 👰‍♀️🤵

Part of our rich history is that we used to be council offices with registrar office which meant couples were able to legally marry here.

In fact, we have 2 people currently with us who married their spouses here, one of which was kind enough to show us their wedding photos and allow us to share them.

What an honour to work in such a stunning building that holds so many memories for so many people.

Taking a trip down memory lane…

Between our Main House and our new unit, we have a link corridor which has been ‘Memory Lane’ for some time, featuring a green grocers, butchers and Post Office.

When residents pass through this area it’s always such a great talking point, reliving memories spent with parents getting some shopping or seeing the prices of things. Some of our much older residents also remember what these shops would have looked like during rationing.

It’s also where resident cats, Madge and Dory live.
