Skin Camouflage - Bristol Skin Camouflage uses products to mask unwanted skin defects/blemishes providing confidence to be you The products used offer a lasting effect. Everyone.

Skin Camouflage
Skin camouflage is a combination of specially formulated creams and powders to cover blemishes and other skin conditions, such as vitiligo, scars or rosacea amongst many others. They are water-resistant, smudge-proof and have some sun blocking protection. Building self-esteem and self-confidence are two of the benefits in using skin camouflage. Living with a skin condition in a world where there is often perceived need for perfection can impact life in a negative way. The use of these products can be used on a daily basis or just provide coverage on those more important occasions such as job interviews, celebrations , weddings or other photographic opportunities. FAQs
The consultation
Your appointment will last approximately 1 hour. It will include taking a short history from you. I will colour match your skin to the appropriate skin tone. There are several stages required in order to produce the most natural and lasting result, these techniques will be taught throughout the process. We will discuss the removal of these products. This is an informal consultation, allowing plenty of opportunity to ask questions throughout your appointment. Appointments are available on Wednesday mornings and Saturdays on request

Products
The products used are available on NHS prescription, can be bought online or bought from pharmacies. These are specially formulated products that are hypo-allergenic. They are high in pigment, meaning they have more colour than average beauty based foundations and concealers. This results in a more uniform even skin tone. When the colour match has been achieved, you will be given the information so thatyou can obtain these items. Brands used are:
DermaColor
Veil
Colour Mark
Keromask

Who and What can be Treated? These products are not “average” make up products. They can be used on men, women and children. I will treat children from the age of 8 years. Beard stubble can be colour matched and stippled in. Skin camouflage techniques can be used over a number of non-infectious skin conditions, however, always seek medical confirmation on appropriate use. These include:
• Erythema (where the affected skin is redder than the surrounding)
• Hyperpigmentation (where the affected skin is darker than the surrounding)
• Hypopigmentation (where the affected skin is pale to the surrounding)
• Depigmentation (where the affected skin has no pigment whatsoever)
• Scarring resulting from trauma caused by accident, violence (including self-harm), surgery (including reconstructive and cosmetic procedures); providing the wound is “healed and sealed”. Skin camouflage should not be applied directly over a burn injury but may be used over skin grafts which have completely healed post burn injury or removal of a skin cancer. Conditions treated:
Scars, vitiligo, rosacea, hypo/hyper pigmented skin conditions, chloasma, melasma, birthmarks, thread veins (telangiectasia), bruising, age spots (lentigines) and solar lentigo and Port wine stains. What cannot be treated? Open wounds, viral or fungal infections, dermatitis, allergic reactions, skin cancers, contagious illnesses affecting the skin such as chicken pox or measles. In my time as NHS practitioner, I do not have experience in covering tattoos. Perfection
Perfection cannot be promised but the closest match will be a mutually agreed result. In order to get the closest match, please attend as naturally as possible. Skin tone can only be matched to the colour already available so fake tan and natural sun tans do not provide the most lasting colour match response.

Skin camouflage is a valuable tool for all who have scars and blemishes, regardless of how these came to be; through birth, accidents and surgery. Many of these go through medical legal routes and I am asked to advise regarding the use of skin camouflage or Dermaflage. These cases always involve reports so today I undertook a formal course through Bond Solon to improve these skills. Excellent study day. Looking forward to putting it into practice 😊
