I'm Zoe, a local Mum to 2 girls aged 10 and 7 years old, and as a busy Mum, I understand that all parents and carers face challenges far too regularly when our little ones become poorly, or have an accident. My 7 year-old is very accident prone, and I am so glad to have my first aid knowledge so I know what to do. Having that knowledge also helps you stay calm, which in turn will help comfort and reassure your child right when they need it! Our 2-hour baby and child first aid class is suitable for any adults who care for children – parents, grandparents, babysitters, expectant parents and anyone in between! The class is relaxed and friendly, and we cover the following first aid/medical emergency topics - CPR, Choking, Burns & Bleeds, Breaks, Head Bumps, Febrile Convulsions and Meningitis Awareness all for just £25.00 per person!

"You’re not just ‘going through motherhood’, you’re going through it.”
Motherhood can be full of joy, but it can also feel overwhelming and lonely. In this heartfelt guest blog, Kayleigh Laverick, founder of Mamma Social Co, shares her journey through postnatal trauma, isolation, and the power of connection. Her story is a reminder that asking for support is a form of first aid - for the heart and mind as well as the body.

Motherhood can feel like a whirlwind of tiny moments, big emotions, and everything in between - and at Mini First Aid, we know that keeping...

🐿️ Last week Ted and I had the pleasure of teaching Windmill Hill Scouts smallest (but possibly most enthusiastic!) members first aid.
2️⃣0️⃣ Children aged 4 - 6 years old learnt how to call for help, how to treat head bumps and bleeds, and how to put someone into the recovery position. We also covered safe eating and how to help a friend if they are choking.
🎆 They were all amazing, giving everything a go and really enjoying their time with Ted!
🥳 A massive CONGRATULATIONS to Bristol’s newest life savers!

🎢 We know that weaning can feel like a rollercoaster - exciting one minute and totally nerve-wracking the next.
🍇 One of the biggest worries parents share with us is understanding the difference between gagging and choking. So we’re thrilled to feature a guest blog from Paediatric Feeding and Swallowing Specialist Laura Bottiglieri, who breaks it all down in a calm, clear, confidence-boosting way.

🍓 If you’re starting (or already deep into!) the weaning journey, this is a brilliant read to help you feel more prepared, more reassured, and more able to support your little one as they learn.

Weaning is one of those parenting milestones that brings all the feelings - excitement, nerves, pride, and a fair bit of “is this normal...

🎄 With Christmas just around the corner, many of us are stocking up on toys and festive bits for the kids. It’s the perfect time to shine a light on a hidden household danger that many parents don’t even realise is there - button batteries. They’re tiny, they’re common, and they’re found in all sorts of kids toys and everyday items around the home.
❤️‍🩹 The injuries they can cause are severe and happen frighteningly fast. We speak to Hollie, whose little boy Ralphie almost lost his life after swallowing a button battery. This is one danger that’s really worth knowing about.

✨ We’re up to date with the new Resuscitation Council UK guidelines

❤️ The Resuscitation Council UK has released updates to paediatric and infant life-support guidance, and we want you to know that Mini First Aid is already on it. We’re rolling out team training and updating our lesson plans to make sure everything we teach reflects the very latest evidence.

👍 If you’ve trained with us before or gained a workplace qualification with us, don’t worry, the qualification remains valid, and the skills you learned are still safe and effective. First aid evolves as new research emerges, and these updates simply offer techniques that may help rescuers deliver even better-quality care.

👉 Here are some of the key changes:

👶🏽 Baby CPR: The preferred method for infants under 1 is now a two-thumb encircling technique. This can help you achieve consistent, effective chest compression depth with less finger fatigue. Other methods (one-hand or two-hand) can still be used if age-appropriate and needed.

🍇 Choking in infants: Still start with 5 back blows. If that doesn’t work, follow with 5 chest compressions using the encircling technique, which replaces the two-finger approach.

⚡️ Using an AED:
• Use paediatric mode for infants and children under 25 kg (approx. under age 8 ).
• If there’s no paediatric setting, use adult mode, don’t delay.
• Pad placement guidance has been refined for clarity and effectiveness.

❤️‍🩹 These improvements aim to make life-saving actions even more effective across all ages.

👀 We’ll keep you updated as we roll out these updates in our classes, and we’ll share demonstrations on the new techniques here on our socials as soon as we have these ready.

💚 As always, our mission is to make sure you feel confident, informed, and ready to help when it matters most 💚

🤎 If you have black or brown skin and take a first aid class where they tell you to look out for blue lips and red skin marks, how do you know what that looks like for your child?

🖤 Medical and first aid literature, imagery and teaching has always traditionally been taught with an assumption that you or your child has white skin. But if your child is black or brown, their lips won’t go blue and rashes and burns will look different. And you need to know this information.

📖All of our trainers undertake diversity training and in our classes, we teach first aid for all skin colours as standard.

🧐 No more guesswork. We will talk you through exactly what to look out for no matter what skin tone your child has.

⭐️ This brilliant review is for our trainer Lell - you’ll get this same teaching wherever you are in the UK.

🥳 We’ve said it before and we will say it again; we love your reviews!
🌟 Another glowing review came in after one of the Baby and Child classes we ran last week and it’s made us so happy!
🗣️ Saying you’ve enjoyed the class is one thing, but recommending it to others is the best, kindest thing you can do for this small business.
💚 We are really lucky that we’ve had years building up our brand and delivering classes and now a lot of our bookings do come from word of mouth, which speaks volumes about what we do and how we do it!

💚 Did you know that Mini First Aid is a franchised business? It may look like a big corporate business from the outside but actually we are made up of 72 different small businesses.
7️⃣2️⃣ Small business owners… 72 people making business decisions. 72 hearts and minds behind 72 life saving businesses.
🥰 Running a small business can feel lonely at times, but we engineer a few times through the year when we can get together and share ideas.
😍 Yesterday a group of us got together in London to fill our cups back up with love for what we do. The passion in the room was overwhelming; passion to save lives and to share our knowledge but also our passion to support each other. Goodness me, do we support each other…
😇 These people look out for each other, we support each other and we lift each other up in ways you can only imagine unless you’ve been part of it. I adore each and every person in these photos and I could not be happier and prouder to be part of it all. I am part of Mini First Aid and it’s a dream come true.
