World Hormone Day

World Hormone Day World Hormone Day is held each year on 24 April

European Hormone Day began in 2022 to bring together the endocrine community and put the spotlight on endocrine health. The aim was to issue a collective call for change about how hormones and endocrine-related disease are addressed in public policy across Europe. Over the years, the campaign has grown from a European initiative into a global initiative to raise awareness and promote better hormon

e health. On 24 April 2025, the global endocrine community joined forces to help spread the word around the world about why hormones matter and the small steps we can all take towards better hormone health –

As World Hormone Day on 24 April nears, we look forward to standing united with health professionals, patients, researchers and industry to shine a spotlight on hormone health .

When hormones are out of balance or fail, it can lead to the development of prevalent chronic diseases such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, cancer, osteoporosis and obesity, and other health challenges such as infertility.

Despite their impact, these conditions are often underdiagnosed and undertreated. And behind these huge numbers are individual people each going through their own journey.

How well do you know your endocrine system?

To count us down to on 24 April we are looking at the glands that make up the endocrine system. Today is the pituitary gland!

Often called the β€œmaster gland,” the pituitary works closely with the hypothalamus to control when hormones are released throughout the body.

The pituitary plays a key role in growth, reproduction, stress and energy balance. It influences things like thirst, mood, puberty, growth, s*x drive, lactation and even aspects of social behaviour.

If your hormone signalling is disrupted, ysymptoms can include mood changes, early or late puberty, tiredness, irregular periods, low s*x drive and changes in weight and appetite, among others.

Be aware of the early signs and symptoms of endocrine disease! Speak to your doctor if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.
