Recently we had an Indian themed experience with a week of Indian themed travels, music and delicacies!

Benvenuta alla Trattoria Santa Monica!



They say that travel broadens the mind, so our residents were whisked away for some autumn sunshine. Firstly, our lovely carer, Sylvia, took us to her childhood home of Sardinia to explore the coral beaches, and the tranquil coastline, then we had an Italian themed supper, with an a la carte menu, genuine peacock feather masks in the style of a Venetian ball, plenty of wine and a drop of limoncello. This was accompanied by the music of Il Divo, but more importantly by our own dulcet tones as we sang along to ‘Amore’, ‘Que sera sera', 'Volare’, and other special requests |(that were less Italian although our version of ‘the bonny, bonny banks of Lake Como’ definitely deserves a mention). Great fun for all involved!

🌱 Adopt a hop! 🌱

Our flourishing communities at Sandford Station and Cote Lane have recently planted 24 hop plants each.

Now we need residents, colleagues and volunteers to ‘adopt a hop’ and ensure they are watered, weeded and looked after to help secure our centenary beer!

Can you help us to help the hops, support people living with dementia to get out and visit them, and do some very light gardening on your schedule?

Earlier this year, as part of our 100 Good Ideas campaign, we asked you for your brightest, boldest ideas to help people live happy, healthy and more independent lives as they age.

The response was phenomenal – over 250 ideas were submitted from residents, colleagues, universities, start-ups and supporters across the UK and beyond.

We’re excited to share the emerging themes and hear your feedback.

Knowing how much Nick loves dogs, our thoughtful Wellbeing Coordinator brought in her adorable dog, Scoobie, for some special cuddle time. Nick lit up instantly, clearly enjoying every moment with Scoobie. And the joy didn’t stop there—soon, Scoobie was making new friends with the other residents too!

VE Day Part 2! A day of remembrance, celebration, and peace.
Everyone at Garden House came together to give our residents a truly special day. We were delighted to welcome our regular visitors from Year 4 at Badminton School, who had just held an assembly all about VE Day.

Armed with thoughtful questions, the children connected beautifully with our residents—sparking conversations full of curiosity and shared history. One resident shared memories of being in Trafalgar Square on VE Day itself—a moment that brought the past vividly to life for all of us.

A Special Easter Treat at Garden House! 🌸🐰
This Easter, Garden House had some very special visitors — the Easter Bunny himself, along with his delightful helper, Alice! Every guest received a surprise Easter Egg, spreading smiles all around.
But the fun didn’t stop there... because who’s ever heard of Easter Alpacas? 🦙💐
They might not have made it into the Bible’s Easter story, but we’re pretty sure they had a spot on Noah’s Ark!
A truly magical day filled with joy, treats, and a few fluffy surprises!
