How do we use Ultrasound Scanning at Rise Physiotherapy?
Our experts are trained in Point of Care Ultrasound Scans, meaning they perform scans as part of their assessment, using the findings to help inform planning and decision-making.
Our protocols have been developed to make this a core part of our service delivery - for example, established Achilles tendon pain, with the presence of swelling and negative rupture signs (key objective tests) routinely undergo an ultrasound scan to ascertain the size, location and severity of tendinopathy, informing our decision to incorporate heavy loading, shockwave, hands-on therapy, or (in the right situation) injection.
Our scanning options include a Clinician Referral (any of our clinicians can refer for an option) or an extended Initial Assessment + Ultrasound Scan appointment, meaning new clients have the optional uptake for this service.
Is it changing our care? Yes, absolutely, for the better. We're getting swifter diagnosis, better and more targeted treatment, and better outcomes for clients. We are making it a cornerstone of our care.
