The team at Penn Drive recently enjoyed a fantastic Cultural Dinner together! 🌍🍽️
Staff members brought along dishes from their own cultures, giving everyone the chance to share and celebrate the diversity within our team. The food looked amazing! 😋🥘🥗
It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about each other’s cultures, enjoy great food, and spend time together as a team. 💬🤝✨

Skye's Success story! 🥳
Skye has been attending Music Therapy for some time, and although she initially found it challenging to settle due to changes and new activities, her progress has been remarkable. Through consistent support and close collaboration between Skye's staff team and the Music Therapist, she has gradually become comfortable and engaged in the sessions.
This is a great example of how effective collaboration and person-centred planning can support successful transitions and positive outcomes for the people we support.
Music therapy uses singing, rhythm and instruments to help adults with learning disabilities build everyday skills. It offers another way to communicate, express feelings and take turns with others. Group music boosts confidence and friendships, while calming sounds can reduce anxiety, frustration and challenging behaviour.

🏎️ Earlier this month, Arron attended a go-karting trial session, and it was a great success!
With support from an instructor, they spent around 30 minutes on the track and were happy and excited throughout. Arron followed instructions well, engaged positively and showed real confidence while driving.
Following such a positive experience, another session has now been booked, something Arron is keen to continue enjoying in the future. We’re delighted to support activities that build confidence, independence and new interests!

🥞 This week, Philip took the lead in the kitchen and treated everyone at his home to freshly made pancakes!
Using an easy-read recipe, he followed each step and completed the task mostly independently, showing great focus, confidence and growing life skills 👏
Well done, Phillip!

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Avon and Somerset Police for kindly visiting our Outreach base in Whitchurch. One of their officers took the time to give our client David the opportunity to sit in a police car and explore some of the equipment they use.
David absolutely loves the police, and this experience definitely made his day! 😁👮🚓

Silva Care was first registered as a company in July 2007 with one supported living house and one short breaks house, plus a small amount of community Outreach services. The ethos of the company was very much about providing personalised and high-quality support for people with learning disabilities in their local communities, and about providing access to a wide range of social, leisure, training and development opportunities. We started with approximately 30 staff and have steadily grown over the past 11 years.
Our community Outreach services expanded quite significantly, and a number of people we support did need access to a building where they could meet with peers, have access to facilities such as a kitchen, accessible bathrooms and sensory equipment so in 2010 we opened our first outreach base called South park in the south of Bristol. Since then we have added two more community bases, North park in 2013 and Ruthven in 2017.
Our short breaks house in Frenchay proved very popular, and we found ourselves with a waiting list for the service. In 2010 we added Station Rd, Filton, and then The Cherries in Redland in 2014 and Penn Drive, Frenchay in 2014. As all of our short breaks services were in north or central Bristol we decided to open a south Bristol short breaks service, Churchways, in 2015. When people come and stay with us there are lots of opportunities to socialize and go out to lots of different activities such as the cinema, bowling, the pub, and weekend trips.
Some people using our short breaks and outreach services had developed increasing independence skills and were ready for a move away from home. I am pleased to say that as they were happy with our services we were asked to support their move to their own accommodation. This led us to developing our supported living services. We opened New rd in 2011, the Bramleys in 2013, the hazels in 2014, and stoke lane in 2017 and Bradley stoke in 2018. All of the houses provide shared accommodation and support with no more than four people living at each house. In addition, we also provide 24hrs support for some people living in single person accommodation.
We now support over 219 people and have over 250 staff across all of our services and maintain our ethos of person centred high quality community-based support.
