🌿✨ A Closer Look at Nutrition & ADHD ✨🧠
A gentle guide for parents, carers & neurodivergent adults
🧬 Nutrient Insufficiencies – What the Research Shows
A UK study found that many children and adults with ADHD and other neurodivergences have lower levels of:
🫐 Omega-3s (EPA + DHA)
🔆 Vitamin D
🔋 Magnesium
🧂 Zinc
🧩 B-vitamins
Lower omega-3 levels were linked with more learning/language symptoms, and lower magnesium levels were connected to greater ADHD severity.

🥛🌾 Food Intolerances & Allergies
Research showed:
✨ 80%+ had reactivity to cow’s milk/dairy/casein
✨ 50%+ were reactive to wheat/gluten
This does not mean “gluten causes ADHD.”
But for some individuals, food sensitivities may worsen inflammation in both the gut and brain, amplifying ADHD symptoms.
🦠 Gut Microbiome & Dysbiosis
The gut-brain axis is deeply involved in attention, mood, and behaviour.
Research indicates:
🔬 ADHD is associated with altered gut microbiota
🌱 Micronutrient support can shift the gut terrain — increasing beneficial species like Bifidobacterium
🔥 Gut inflammation may contribute to neuroinflammation and symptom severity
⚡ Oxidative Stress
Oxidative stress = an overload of free radicals vs. the body
