It will be 20 years since I first started as a funeral director on Harris and what a journey it has been . There have been many ups and downs and many funerals that have tugged hard on the heart strings but I would not change any of it .
I don’t believe this profession is a job , it is a calling and you can’t treat it as a job , if you do then you’re in the wrong business . Since moving to Skye it has been a steep learning curve and every day is a school day we are always learning . I am so grateful to everyone that has helped me along the way and I look forward to helping families for many more years if I am blessed enough to do so . Thank you to every family that has put their trust in me and my team .

Where has the time gone ? This year will mark 11 years since I bought the building here in Broadford and converted it in to a funeral home where I also live meaning I am on the premises whenever I am needed to support my community. In that time I have been humbled by the support shown by the people of Skye, Lochalsh and Wester Ross . Farquhar is currently the longest serving full time funeral director working and living on Skye . Two of my team David and Cameron have been with me since day one and we were later joined by Andrew , I am so blessed with my team we all work together and I could not ask for better so a huge thanks from me to them .
We hope to serve for many years yet as the only family owned independent funeral directors on Skye .

We are the only independent family owned funeral directors on Skye covering Skye, Lochalsh and Wester Ross. Owned and run by Farquhar Macleod who answers the telephone personally 24 hours a day .
We have 2 custom built Mercedes private ambulances to bring your loved one in to our care with total respect . We also have a choice of black or silver Mercedes hearses .
All of our coffins apart from our wicker/ seagrass are made in Scotland to the highest of standards.
Our prices are fixed , when you choose one of our packages everything is included in the price we quote you .
As independent funeral directors we believe we offer a more personal service , we offer live streaming free of charge , viewings free of charge , collection outwith office hours at no extra charge , funerals on a Saturday at no extra charge . This profession is a calling , not just a job I am totally committed to serving the people of Skye, Lochalsh and Wester Ross.

This is a very worthwhile charity that we should all consider especially at this time of year . I personally was affected by this many years ago so it is very close to my heart .
