We see lots of ankle injuries from patients that have had X-rays and are told they have no fracture, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫.Ultrasound enables us to see if the trauma caused has effected your tendon or ligaments. In this instance, the patient had rolled his ankle and 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠, but was sent away due to there being no fracture. He came to see us and the ultrasound scan showed he had 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭, 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫.From diagnosis, we could then advise 6 weeks recovery in a boot, followed by another scan to assess recovery, and then a tailored course of physiotherapy for rehabilitation.Music by Oleksandr Stepanov from pixabay.com/music/beats-better-day-186374/
