🌟 A Paws-itively Wonderful Month at Copperfield Court! 🐾🌿

It’s been a fun-filled and heartwarming month here at Copperfield Court, packed with creativity, reflection, and a few scoops of ice cream along the way! 🍦☀️

🐱 International Cat Day Celebrations
Residents embraced their inner cat lovers with a full day of feline-themed fun! From solving cat breed word searches and crosswords to enjoying a quiz all about our furry friends, it was a purr-fect way to spend the day. We even watched a fascinating biography on Louis Wain, the famous cat artist. Over in Art Club, residents got creative making their own cat-themed door hangers — a truly imaginative way to celebrate the day!

🌿 Gardening & Garden Treats
With autumn just around the corner, our green-fingered residents rolled up their sleeves to plant, pot, and prep the garden. And what better way to do it than under the sun with ice lollies and ice creams in hand? It was a lovely blend of productivity and pleasure.

👵 Honouring Senior Citizens Day
To mark this special day, our residents shared cherished memories and heartfelt advice for younger generations. The unanimous message? “Don’t take life too seriously—and always be kind.” ❤️
They also created “Life Timelines,” reflecting on their favourite moments and life lessons from childhood right through to today. A beautiful and moving way to celebrate their journeys.

🧠 Quizzes & Brain Teasers
We’ve had plenty of quiz fun this month, but the standout favourite was the “Noise Quiz,” where residents tested their ears and memories to guess various sounds — it really got everyone thinking (and giggling)!

🕯️ Relaxation & Wellbeing
To wind down, our cinema room transformed into a calming candle-lit retreat for meditation, aromatherapy, and peaceful visuals of tides rolling by. A perfect way to relax and reflect.

🌟 What a week it’s been at Copperfield Court! 🌿💪🎉✂️

From getting our hands dirty in Gardening Club as we prep for the autumn season 🍂 to stretching it out with some energising armchair exercises — our residents have been on the move!

Lola had us all laughing when she kicked higher than her four-wheeled rolator and proudly declared, “You use it or you lose it!” — words to live by! 😂👏

We also celebrated a very special birthday 🎂 — our lovely Margaret, who prefers the quiet of her room, was treated to a surprise visit from the whole team, serenading her with Happy Birthday and presenting her with a beautiful birthday cake. Her smile said it all! 💛🎈

And of course, our much-loved hairdresser Jenna stopped by to work her magic. Elaine put it best: “I didn’t think you could get better than my old hairdresser, but Jenna is so good!” 💇‍♀️✨

🌞 Sunshine, Safari Vibes & Smiles All Round! 🐯🚌

Today, our amazing Copperfield Court residents and team boarded the minibuses and set off on a wild adventure to
Wingham Wildlife Park— and what a day it was!

From towering giraffes to cheeky monkeys, glamorous baboons, fearsome alligators, majestic lions, curious bears, and a powerful tiger, we were lucky enough to see so many incredible animals up close! 🦁🐒🐊

We refueled with a delicious picnic courtesy of our fabulous Head Chef Jo (thank you Jo! 🙌), followed by the perfect summer treat — ice creams all round! 🍦

The sun was shining, the animals were out, and the laughter was non-stop. A huge thank you to everyone who made this unforgettable day so special. 💛

Spreading Smiles & Sweet Treats! 🍰💬

Today, our amazing Front of House Manager Corina and our brilliant Maintenance Manager Colin paid a visit to the lovely team at Age UK at their new site!

Armed with freshly baked cakes, plenty of brochures, and a passion for making connections, they met with Clare, who leads the befriending sessions there. Clare kindly gave them a tour and shared all the wonderful things AGE UK is doing for the community.

In return, Corina and Colin shared the story of Copperfield Court and the wide range of support and services we offer.

The cakes were a big hit (who doesn’t love a good treat?), and so were the friendly conversations.

We’re all about community at Copperfield Court, and it’s days like these that remind us just how important those local connections are. 💛

🎶 Music, Laughter & Celebration at Copperfield Court! 🎉

This morning, we welcomed back the wonderful Candi to Copperfield Court Care Home! 💛

Residents sang their hearts out and even tried their hand at a bit of songwriting – such a joyful and creative hour filled with smiles all around. 🎤✨

Then, this afternoon, we gathered for a special tea party to celebrate our lovely Sheila’s 93rd birthday! 🎂

Her family joined us for the occasion, making it a truly heartwarming celebration. 💐💕

There’s never a dull moment at Copperfield Court – just music, memories, and magic! 🥳

🏏 A Friendship 70+ Years in the Making 💙
At Copperfield Court Care Home, we're celebrating something truly special — a story of friendship, resilience, and community that has stood the test of time.

Meet Arthur, Derek, and Cyril — three incredible men whose bond began on a cricket pitch over 70 years ago and continues to this day.

Arthur joined Nelsons at just 12, made the cricket team by 14, and soon met his teammate Derek. Their shared passion for cricket sparked a lifelong friendship.

When Derek was diagnosed with tuberculosis, he spent six months recovering — and that’s where he met Cyril. Never forgetting his team, Derek invited Cyril to join Nelsons when he got better... and just like that, a legendary trio was born.

🏏 Arthur joined Nelsons in 1953
🏏 Derek in 1955
🏏 Cyril in 1956

Through every twist and turn of life, their friendship never wavered.

Today, Arthur and Derek are residents at Copperfield Court, and recently, they welcomed Cyril for a long-overdue reunion — full of stories, laughter, and memories from their cricket days. 🥰

To help them relive the magic, we’re organising a special trip to a local cricket match — and planning regular meet-ups so they can keep the camaraderie alive. Because some friendships truly are forever. 💛
