Iāve lost track of the number of clients who have asked āIs that you in the photo?ā I see a likeness from this angle š
But why is this photograph important? Well it highlights that client safety is of paramount importance to us.
Unfortunately the aesthetics industry is currently unregulated in the UK, which means anyone with no prior healthcare or medical experience can do a two day course & call themselves an advanced practitioner with no real credentials.
Unfortunately due to this many clients liken aesthetic treatments to beauty treatments such as having their nails done. But the reality is far from it. The face is a highly vascular area, with nerves & many other anatomical features. And there are far more risks & side effects that come alongside receiving injectable treatments.
Questions you should be asking your practitioner:
1. Have they had any prior patient management experience in a clinical setting?
2. Have they got accredited & sufficient training in anatomy, physiology, medicines, medical emergencies & cross infection?
3. How long have they been carrying out aesthetics & have they trained with reputable academies?
4. Have they got procedures in place whereby if a medical emergency occurred they could deal with it efficiently & effectively?
5. Are they there on hand 24/7 to answer any questions or concerns that you might have?
6. Do they know their level of competence/limits & know when to refer on to a more suitable practitioner?
Practitioners have a duty of care to you, they should put your safety above all else, keep up to date with regulation, have high standards, commit to continual learning, be ethical & honest.
Only this week I was informed of a practitioner, who has completed her aesthetics training this month, with no previous clinical experience & is offering dermal filler BBL. This is an extremely high risk procedure which even surgeons do not offer for good reason.
I urge you to choose your practitioner wisely. If you have any questions about how we put your safety first, DM āSAFEFACEāāļø
