At N Zone we can enjoy a summer of sport, even when the heavens open... such is the British weather.

So it's time to warm up and don those sweatbands, as we: fight for dodgeball supremacy in Knockout City, partake in the VR shenanigans of Gorilla Tag and even have some throwback fun with Wii Sports Resort. Plus many more!

Come join our club on Fridays, 1700-1930. For more details and to book your place, contact us on info@silentngaming.co.uk.

Happy Fathers' Day! We hope that the kids are spoiling their dads today. Of course those dads that joined us for 'Fathers Play' yesterday are in extra need of R&R. These brave gladiators defended their family's honour, as they carried their kids through yesterday's gaming tournament. Yep, that's how it happened... honest! 😂 Through your gallant efforts you've helped us edge ever closer to our funding target for Barnardos. Thank you for your time, donations and making it such an entertaining event! The footage is being scoured to bring you the best moments. In the meantime, there's still time to donate via our Just Giving page.

Silent N Gaming - Fathers Play!
Help Liam Nwanze raise money to support Barnardo's
www.justgiving.com

Why Barnardos?

It can be tough growing up, and this past year has been especially difficult. Young people are more lonely, sad and stressed than before lockdown. And for many, gaming is a much-needed escape. A way to combat loneliness, feel connected to a community and get out of their own head, even if just for a little while. So, what better way to support them than by holding your own gaming event and stream to
raise money to help young people struggling with their mental health across the UK?

Barnardos supports 358,800 children, young people, parents and carers, across more than 800 services throughout the UK. During 2019-20, Barnardo’s supported 55,000 young people through our mental health services – to put that into context, that’s enough to fill London’s O2 Arena almost three times over!

If we can meet our fundraising target, then we should be able to pay for mental health assessments, counselling facilities and equipment to support young people.

We're pleased to announce an exciting CHARITY event that will be held on Saturday 19th June (sessions @ 1200-1430 and 1500-1730) to raise funds for Barnardo's. A charity that has done amazing things for young people during the pandemic.

Introducing *Fathers Play!* - On the eve of Fathers' Day, we're inviting a few parents to our Bromley gaming hub to engage in some friendly competition, as they play in teams with and against their kids:

https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/silentngaming-fathersplay

Players will compete in a virtual triathlon across the following three titles that almost anyone can pick up and play:

- Rocket League
- Super Smash Brothers
- Overcooked 2

For those wishing to compete, please message us asap, so that we can reserve your place. Our suggested donation for the event is £10 per parent/guardian & child team.

We would also welcome any video game-related item donations, which we can give directly to Barnardos, use as competition/raffle prizes or sell-on and donate the proceeds.

We hope to see some of you soon, as the generations duke it out for gaming glory... and a good cause 🎮🏆

Today is the International Day Of Families, with the theme of: Families and New Technology. It's been a tough year where many families have been either forced closer together or kept further apart. Love or hate the distance of a Zoom call with a relative, or the kids/pets crashing our online meetings, this year would have been even tougher without the tech. And - in a world where our options to bond, unwind and escape have been so limited - Games have been another great outlet. At Silent N Gaming we love our party and multiplayer games. It can be a great way to bring people, especially families, closer together and bridge generational divides. We wish you all a lovely 'International Day of Families' and that you are closer than last year to your loved ones. It's great that our lives are returning to normal, and I tip my hat to tech (and games) for making those tough times more bearable.

We had so many games to get through at our last session that we missed out on this zany title: 'Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime'.

Love the art style in this one, super-cute and a game where many hands make light work... of alien spacecraft.

We hope to get a full crew of pilots and gunners in when we play this on Friday.

Come join our club on Fridays, 1700-1930. For more details or to book your place, contact us on info@silentngaming.co.uk.

Mission complete! Week 3 and another action-packed 'N Zone' event. Thank you gamers for your support and for making our session so entertaining. We look forward to seeing you again next Friday.

07/05/2021

Another practice session ahead of our gunslinging session at our 'N Zone' event.

So, what was today's lesson:

- That I suck at a game rated for 7 year olds? (Your failures are your own old man)

- Cuphead is as hard as everyone warned me it would be?

Or

- If at first you don't succeed, shout at the screen, be thankful that the Switch joycon is tethered to your hand, and try, try and cry again 😭

For those that like a challenge, come join our club on Fridays, 1700-1930. For more details or to book your place, contact us on info@silentngaming.co.uk

At the Silent N Gaming hub, our upcoming 'N Zone' events are dedicated to the humble shoot-em-up.

In prep, we're getting to grips with this hidden gem of a twin-stick shooter - Assault Android Cactus.

Game plays great and shows that you don't always need fancy narrative and a triple A budget to create triple A fun.

This is gonna get crazy when four players get those guns blazing.

Pew pew! 👉🏼

Come join us on May 7, 17:00-19:30. For more details or to book your place, contact us on whatsapp 07983103150 or email: info@silentngaming.co.uk

04/05/2021

Hi, I'm Liam, founder of Silent N Gaming. I'm an unashamed geek who loves games. The obsession started back in the 80s, when I got my hands on an 8-bit Atari 800XL. I still have fond memories of waiting 10 minutes for cassettes to load (if at all!) and enjoying games in all their nine colour glory. Since then I haven't looked back... and my wallet has been a little lighter for it.

Gaming has shaped a lot of what I've done over the years. It got me interested in tech, drove me towards STEM subjects and a masters in electronic engineering. I love tinkering with gaming gadgets, almost as much as playing on them. It also got me interested in the artistic aspects: the world building, characters and stories - which games excel at - so I spend a lot of my time writing creatively too.

Silent N Gaming is in its infancy, so I still have a day-job, somewhat related to the project. I work for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, where I've led the government’s work to support the country’s Creative Industries, including the film, music and - of course - video game sectors (that's me rocking a VR headset on the front cover of one of our publications). Right now, I lead on national investment in youth activity programmes.

Working with young people is part of the family business. My partner - Anya Zhavoronkova - is the director of the award-winning ‘Skylark School of Dance’, an organisation that we’ve built up since 2016. Based in Basco House studios, South East London. Our charming building is also the place that ‘Silent N Gaming’ calls home.

Looking back on these experiences, I probably shouldn't be surprised that I've launched a project that's crazy about games and its potential to develop young people - promoting their wellbeing and cognitive development. My vision is to create an experimentation space for young gamers to play socially, safely and - if they dream it - professionally. I hope you can join us on this journey.

Last week's opening event was a big hit and we hope that more of you can join us this coming Friday (30th April, 1700-1930) for our next session.

This week's theme is... Elite Beats and Two Left Feet

Games:

- Thumper - Guide an alien craft through a preternatural and percussive rollercoaster ride - Will your reflexes be up to the task?

- Just Dance - The dance game that needs no introduction. Now its 12th year, the franchise is timeless and began before many of our gamers were even born! Up to four players can bust some moves together and we are based in a dance school, so we know that the floor can take it.

- Beat Saber - We debut our Oculus Rift 2 VR headset, with this critically acclaimed, rhythm game. It's far easier to watch Beat Saber on YouTube than try to explain the concept, but it's hilarious to both play and watch... let's just say we'll need social distancing for entirely different safety reasons.

And for those who have two left feet (or thumbsticks), we'll also have some of our popular party games going, so there'll be something for everyone.

Get into the groove and game on!

Tickets for this event are £25 or £18 for our subscribing members (£20 or £15 respectively if more than one family member attends). Light snacks and drinks will be provided. The recommended age for this event is 7-12 (N.B. all games at this specific session are rated PEGI 7 or under).

If you are interested in attending our event and what we do, then feel free to contact us on: info@silentngaming.co.uk / tel: 07793276016.

We're based in Basco House (27 Widmore Road, Bromley, BR1 1RW), a huge dance school, equipped with three giant studios, big screens and the latest tech - plenty of space for some serious gaming.

Our gaming hub goes live on 23rd April, with the introduction of our regular, Friday (1700-1930) club event - 'The N Zone', where young gamers can socialise and end their busy week with a chilled gaming session.

Each week, members of our club will select a theme and play a variety of fun games based on this - including some hidden gems that they may not have even heard of.

Our debut event is a cause for celebration, as we're opening and because gamers can finally reunite after so long physically apart. Therefore, our first theme is 'Party Time - Gamers Unite!' We'll be playing party titles on Switch, Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 that bring maximum lols but also rely on cooperation and teamwork. So come join us for games such as:

Lockdown might have slowed us down, but it's given us time to rethink, re-energise and rebrand... We're pleased to announce that the 'Gamers Dreamhouse Project' is now 'Silent N Gaming' - a new social gaming hub and club in South-East London. Don't let the name fool you! We're bringing young people together for the wildest titles, on the latest tech. From 23rd April, it's time to break out from the bedroom, lose the lag, and meet multi-player gaming friends (maybe some rivals too). Details to follow, but we can't wait to see you all IRL. Game on!
