The counselling process is exhausting at times, I promise you it is worth it once you find a good therapeutic fit, but in the short term when all the mixed up buried emotions come up, you can feel drained afterwards. We as therapists love our job but it's tiring for us too, hence why we BANG on about self care and boundaries. So please take the time to rest after sessions, drink lots of water, breathe slowly, journal, take a bath, walk, paint, listen to music. Whatever feels good.
This is why I walk in the woods alot, stretch barefoot and have regular supervision and don't take on too many clients, burnout is a huge problem for therapists.
So let's all honour the process and ourselves and take it easy π©΅π€
