Happy International Women’s Day!

International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on the 8th of March. It’s a day to reflect on the progress made, and honour the incredible women who have paved the way for equality✨

The theme this year is ‘Give to Gain’ which emphasises how collaborating with others can have a positive impact on creating a more supportive and interconnected world🌍

The team at SBT is full of incredibly dedicated and supportive women who ‘give to gain’ every day by giving back to our community and supporting the next generation of speech and language therapists🫶🏻💕

Today is international cochlear implant day!

International cochlear implant day is celebrated every year on the 25th of February to mark the anniversary of the first cochlear implantation in 1957!

We're delighted to announce that the recipients of this year's Sarah Buckley Student Grants are:

Leanne Dakin
Amy Macleod

Each will be receiving £500.

But this year, we're also naming three 'minor grant' recipients, who will each receive £100. They are:

Genesis Romero Cortes
Isabella Donohoe
Scarlett Brown

In addition to the ASLTIP scheme, we’re honoured to host the Victoria Halstead Memorial Fund, established in 2025 by Andrea Van Vleck in memory of her daughter, Victoria. Victoria was an ASLTIP member whose passion for the profession continues to inspire. This biannual award is open to SLTs and assistants in independent practice who wish to develop good practice.

The award of up to £250 can be used for:

Staff training, individuals or teams purchase or partial purchase of equipment or to develop a resource which supports communication.

Each year we would like recipients to provide a short summary of their project with photographs and the outcomes which we will share on the ASLTIP website

Successful recipients of the Victoria Halstead Fund will be notified within 2 weeks of the deadline.

It is hard to believe that a year has passed since we lost Sarah. Her warmth, vision and positivity touched so many of us, and her absence is still felt deeply.
