Starting Therapy
The thought of going to a counsellor can be a very daunting thought. All of my clients who have said to me that they were thinking of going to therapy for a while, also said they were too scared of sharing their feelings with a stranger, but told me after their sessions that it really wasn’t what they thought it would be at all, and that they felt safe and heard. If you get a good counsellor who you bond with, it’s a place to explore what you bring to the therapy room. Some of it will feel uncomfortable to talk about, but that’s ok, because we can work through that feeling to get to a place where you are happier within yourself. The relationship between a counsellor and their client is incredibly important. You as a client need to feel that you can say things that you’ve never told anyone before, and to know that you won’t be judged, and that you’ll be accepted for who you are, and also to allow yourself to take responsibility for things in your life that you’re not proud of, exploring why they happened and how you can change what you need to.
My own therapeutic journey is constant, always learning from others and from within, giving myself compassion and love when I need to, all of which I pass onto my clients, allowing me to give them unconditional positive regard. ❤️
