At this time of the year, thoughts and prayers naturally turn to all our loved ones that are no longer with us....and when someone you love dies, it can cause us all a tremendous amount of pain and grief....and you know, grief is very different for us all.

So, please take care of yourselves...and remember that the light has not gone out...it has only taken a new shape which will continue to guide you through.

Yesterday, I was honoured to lead a service for a lovely gentleman who literally, and quite unexpectedly, closed his eyes to the world and didn't wake up!

A life well lived....as a Husband, a Father, a Grand Father and a Great Friend.

To think where I was just over a year ago….following qualifying through Civil Ceremonies Ltd as a Couples, Naming and Funeral Celebrant….the milestone that I have now achieved seems like a world away!

I’d like to thank all the Funeral Directors, Funeral Arrangers, Crematoriums, Cemeteries, FSOs, Chapel Attendants and all the lovely families that I have had the pleasure of working alongside in delivering my last 100 services to…..truly, the honour and privilege have all been mine!

I was given a second lease of life in a profession, for which I will be eternally grateful….I am thoroughly enjoying the role that I now play....and given my referrals and feedback, I seem to be fairly good at it.

Here’s to the next 100!

*** CELEBRATION OF LIFE ***

Whether it was the wishes of the recently passed Loved One…the wishes of the Family...or for purely financial reasons...these days, more and more people are choosing the path of Direct Cremation.

Direct Cremation does not mean that you don’t get the chance to say goodbye. It merely gives you the flexibility to do so at a time and place that best suits you.

Holding a Celebration of Life service is a way of respecting their wishes whilst remembering the person that they always were.

It's been a REALLY busy, but amazing, couple of months of ceremonies - Funerals & Weddings....and I'm loving every second of working with some lovely families and couples.

It really is SO wonderful when you get appreciated.....not only by the clients, but also the arrangers.

Today was extremely emotional and extremely satisfying, as I led 3 services for 3 lovely families as they said goodbye to their loved ones...one in Eltham, Southeast London and two in Southend on Sea, Essex.

As a Celebrant, I am regularly asked..."How do we deal with what we are required to do...."

I have been very very fortunate since starting down my path of being a Celebrant, that I find myself being called upon quite regularly to lead services throughout Southeast London, Kent and South Essex for some wonderful Funeral Directors, and this Thursday....exactly a year after qualifying through Civil Ceremonies Ltd....I am so honoured to be leading 3 services, for 3 different Funeral Arrangers, in two different chapels....all in one day.

After conducting well over 65 funeral services to date in my first year as a Funeral Celebrant, and after liaising with as many wonderful families from every walk of life, the same question keeps resonating in my head....."In the end, what will matter?"
