I offer treatments from my treatment room at Serenity Beauty and Wellness in South Croydon (CR2 7LF), from my home in Hayes, as well as a mobile service covering Hayes, West Wickham, Coney Hall and Beckenham. I am also a physiotherapist of 15 years and working in healthcare have become, and continue to be interested in all aspects of health and wellbeing, stress relief, nutrition, the mind body connection and complementary therapies. I used complementary therapies a few years ago to aid my recovery following an illness. During this time I discovered Reflexology and the huge benefits that it brings, especially around stress relief, deep relaxation, promoting balance within the body and helping to stimulate the body's own healing process. I decided to train as a Reflexologist and have not looked back! I am fully insured and have an up to date DBS. Reflexology is an ancient therapy, originating from Egypt, India and China, that has been practised for over a thousand years. It is a complementary therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing within the body. Reflexology is a safe, non-invasive touch therapy, involving applied pressure to specific reflex points on the feet and hands. The practise is based on the theory that these reflex points correspond to different organs, glands and systems within the body. By stimulating these points, reflexology aims to promote health, balance and wellbeing. Reflexology is a holistic therapy addressing the whole person, body, mind and spirit, to induce a state of balance and harmony. It aims to stimulate the body’s own potential to heal both physically and mentally, seeking to work with the body’s natural, or innate, healing efforts. How can Reflexology help me? Reflexology enables your body to relax, restore, rejuvenate and rebalance. It is effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing by reducing stress which in turn helps optimise good health and builds resilience. Reflexology may help many conditions including, but not limited to, anxiety, stress and depression, sleep difficulties, fatigue, pain reduction, digestive issues, musculoskeletal issues, hormonal symptoms (PMS, menopause, period pain), fertility and pregnancy related ailments. Reflexology is a safe, natural and non-invasive therapy, treating the mind, body and spirit. It can be used safely alongside standard medical care. Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. What happens during Reflexology? A medical / lifestyle history will be taken on your first treatment and you will be asked to sign a consent form. This helps to give an overall picture of your wellbeing and to rule out any contraindications to treatment (of which there are very few). This information will be kept confidential in accordance with the data protection act (GDPR 2018). To receive Reflexology you will need to be barefoot and reclined on a therapy bed or reflexology chair to a position of comfort for you. The feet are cleansed with warm flannels, and balm or oil applied for the Reflexology treatment. Light to medium pressure is applied to reflex points interspersed with relaxation massage techniques, providing a soothing and deeply relaxing treatment. How will I feel afterwards? After a reflexology session many clients report note an increased sense of well-being, upbeat mood and deep relaxation with restful restorative sleep following a session. Sometimes your body may react with feelings of tiredness or tearfulness in the 24-48 hours afterwards. These reactions are normal and believed to be part of the balancing and healing process. It is useful to give feedback to the reflexologist following a session as this can be useful in planning future sessions accordingly. Price
