New Road Surgery Patient Participation Group (NRSPPG) are pleased to announce details of the next educational talk which is entitled "Cues for Changing Behaviour Towards Achieving a Healthier Lifestyle”

Psychological research investigating indirect methods (e.g., nudge) to change health behaviours, such as increasing physical activity, improving healthier food choices, and purchasing behaviour, has flourished in recent years. From moving your biscuits to the top shelf (adjusting your physical surroundings) to adding a new smell to the environment (using sensory cues), indirect methods of changing health behaviour involve diverse strategies that can be applied cross-culturally with great success.

In this session, Dr Felix Why (University of Worcester - UK) presents ideas based on research to showcase how indirect methods can be incorporated into one’s work and home environment to change health behaviours.

The talk will take place in the Boardroom at New Road Surgery on Wednesday, 19 March at 6pm.

If you would like to attend, please email newrdppg@gmail.com stating the number of seats you require.

Kind regards

The Committee NRSPPG

Practices are being made aware of a scam which is targeting patients.

Another practice reported that their patients were being contacted and asked to confirm all their personal details over the phone, being told if they didn’t share this information they would be struck off the GP list.

Please be mindful of any calls of this nature.
We will sometimes check personal information (address, tel no) when you call us, and we may contact you if we believe you have moved out of the area, but we would not call you from a mobile number (as this scam is) to ask for lots of personal details, threatening to remove you.

Dr Hollier will sadly be leaving New Road the end of this month, retiring from medicine.
Some patients are aware and have asked about signing a leaving card, so we have put one behind the reception desk. If any one happens to be in the surgery and wishes to leave a message for him, please feel free to ask to sign the card.

Please be aware we have had 2 power cuts this afternoon. Seems to be a Bromsgrove issue, not just us.
We lose all systems and phones when the power goes off. Our main doors also lock as they are electric doors, so you will be unable to enter the building.
Patients can exit via fire doors.
National Grid expects normal service to resume by 17.00.

22/07/2024

Following the major IT incident on Friday, we can report that our systems are back up as of today. However there will be some delays catching up with medications requests, incoming electronic results and documentation etc, so please bear with us.

19/07/2024

Due to a worldwide Microsoft incident, our medical records system is down (along with other surgeries in England) and we are only able to run an emergency system.
We can deal with on the day emergencies, we can see anyone already booked in to see a clinician today, but we are unable to book anything routine. We are unable to process any routine medication requests, but please do call if the drug you have run out of is considered life saving.
Please come to the main desk on arrival.
Thank you.
