Hydroquinone
The gold standard for treating stubborn pigmentation. It works by blocking tyrosinase, the enzyme needed to produce melanin (pigment). This helps fade existing dark patches and prevent new ones from forming. Especially effective for sun damage and hormonal pigmentation — but it must be used under professional guidance and for limited periods.

Tranexamic Acid (TXA)
Originally used to treat blood clotting, TXA has been found to calm inflammation and suppress melanin production triggered by UV, hormones, or trauma. It’s brilliant for treating melasma and post-inflammatory pigmentation, making it ideal for delicate areas like the neck, where inflammation can easily lead to darkening.

Cysteamine
A newer, well-researched option for pigmentation that works by reducing melanin synthesis in a gentler, long-term way. It’s safe for sensitive skin, doesn’t bleach, and is often used as an alternative or follow-up to hydroquinone. Great for ongoing maintenance and suitable for the neck with continuous use.

I was really surprised with these results straight after a lymphatic drainage facial.

Unfortunately there is limited research surrounding this treatment but In 2015, beauty company Shiseido, together with a professor from Osaka University, Japan, concluded that there was a link between reduced lymphatic function and skin sagging.

Because the lymphatic system has a very important role in eliminating toxins and bodily waste it makes sense that it should contribute to maintaining our health which in turn has an effect on how we look and feel.

So nothing to lose in incorporating this treatment into your regular skincare routine.
