That’s a wrap on our Beach Party week — and what a joyful way to kick off the summer holidays! 🏖️
Thank you to everyone who’s joined us this term for all the mess, memories and magical play 💛

We’re now officially out of office for a couple of weeks while we soak up some family time (and maybe a bit of sunshine too!) 🌞
We’ll be back soon with even more creative fun — until then, stay messy and enjoy every bit of summer 🌈

We’re soaking up every moment of our final theme before a little summer break — and there’s still one more splash of fun to come!

From suitcase beaches to tropical gloop, we’ve brought the seaside indoors (and out!) with ice cream cloud dough, rock pool play, smoothie-making and more.

Boats & Water Play Round-Up
This week was all about boats, bubbles and brilliant water play fun! 💦⚓

Inspired by the children’s love of all things water, we dove into messy, sensory fun with bubble bath boats, jelly oceans, spaghetti seas and splashy experiments — and the laughter didn’t stop. 🌊🫧

Thank you to everyone who joined us — small groups mean I get to know your children so well, and it’s a joy planning sessions based on their favourite things 💛

🌀 Let’s talk about GLOOP!
One of my all-time favourite sensory bases 💙

It’s simple, safe, and so satisfying — perfect for little hands to scoop, pour, squeeze and explore! Gloop is that amazing mix of cornflour and water that acts like both a solid and a liquid (hello early science fun 👩‍🔬), and it’s always a hit in our messy play sessions.

What I love most is how well it fits into all our different themes:
🌊 Ocean gloop
🦖 Dino swamp gloop
🎃 Pumpkin spice gloop
💌 Love potion gloop
…you name it, we can gloop it! 👏

Messy, magical, and packed with learning.

🌊 This Week’s Theme: Boats & Water Play! 🛶

After seeing just how much the children LOVE water play, I knew we had to dedicate a full week to it — and so Boats & Water Play was born!

Here’s what we’re getting stuck into:
💙 Bubble bath boats
💙 Jelly ocean exploration
💙 Spaghetti under the sea
💙 Ocean gloop slime
💙 Foam sea storms
💙 Nautical playdough fun
💙 Sink or float experiments
(Plus all our regular favourites too!)

Water is always a hit — whether it’s pouring, splashing, mixing or just watching it move. It’s such a fun way to support learning and messy exploration, and the children have been loving every second so far.

Always a firm favourite with our little explorers! 💛

Whether it’s big bold brush strokes, tiny fingertip prints, or splatters of joyful colour — no two creations are ever the same.

Painting gives children the freedom to express themselves, experiment with colours and textures, and build confidence in their choices.

✨ It’s open-ended, calming, creative… and sometimes gloriously messy!

Today was just for our littlest explorers — a baby-only class filled with squishy textures, gentle splashes, and safe tastes to explore with curious little hands (and mouths!).

It was such a pleasure to welcome some brand new faces too 💛
There’s nothing quite like watching babies light up as they discover the joy of messy play for the first time 🌈

✨ This is what it’s really about…
The laughter.
The freedom.
The little moments that happen when we stop rushing and just play.

Classes have been a little quieter lately — and I won’t lie, it can be hard not to let that bring on a bit of self-doubt and anxiety.

But then I see this…
Smiles shared between parents and little ones.
Barefoot giggles in the sunshine.
Sticky hands, muddy feet, and hearts full of joy.

And I’m reminded — this is why I do it. 💛
Not for the numbers.
But for the magic.

Same but Different – Our Weekly Playdough Station

Did you know… we always have a playdough station at our messy play sessions? 🧡

Each week it’s themed to match our topic – from rainbow cupcakes to jungle slime balls and beachy shells. I make it fresh myself, using different colours, scents and textures to keep it exciting for little imaginations 🌈🍋🍦

But there’s a reason I keep this activity consistent...
➡️ For little ones, a familiar setup helps build confidence and trust.
➡️ They know what to expect – and that makes exploring feel safer 💛
➡️ But by changing what’s around it (the tools, smells, shapes), we keep it open-ended and full of creativity ✨

Whether they’re rolling, squishing, sculpting or storytelling — they’re also building those all-important fine motor skills 💪✂️✏️
I call it same-but-different magic – and it’s a core part of what we do 💫
