The second Thursday of October is World Sight Day 👀 (12th October 2024)

This is a great opportunity to highlight the importance of ocular health and vision as well as raising awareness of vision impairment. Many eye conditions can be prevented and so regular eye health checks are vitally important even when you feel your vision remains unchanged.

While uncorrected vision may impact education and social inclusion, simple solutions such as spectacles can make a world of difference.

Research shows that reducing screen time and spending time outside protects children from developing short-sightedness (myopia) and regular eye examinations identifies issues at an early stage.

World Sight Day can remind us all to prioritize our eye health. It is important to take regular breaks when using digital devices, to protect our eyes from UV and to wear eye protection when performing hazardous tasks. A good diet and not smoking can help to reduce our risk of certain eye conditions.

On World Sight Day, let’s aim to protect the eyes of us as well as our children, for good eyesight now and tomorrow 🤓😎🤓😎🤓
