There’s been a lot of talk in the last few weeks on social media about the Year of the Snake transitioning into the Year of the Horse.
Shedding… into movement.
Release… into momentum.
If you’re into that sort of thing, the symbolism is beautiful. If you’re not, that’s fine too.
Because 1st March still feels like a shift.
The light is changing.
The evenings are stretching.
Even with what has felt like endless rain here in the UK, we had a bit of sunshine this week and you could almost feel everyone lift.
January always claims to be the fresh start.
But March feels different.
Hibernation season is ending.
There’s a quiet sense of “right… now what?” and I think this matters.
Because the last few years, and especially the last few months, have been a lot.
Things that once felt unimaginable now feel normal.
The pace of change is relentless.
The news cycle rarely pauses.
That isn’t neutral for our nervous systems.
It takes energy to process uncertainty.
It takes energy to stay steady when the world feels noisy.
This winter has tested that for me too.
There have been challenging moments.
But I’ve noticed something important:
I haven’t numbed out with wine.
I’ve kept moving my body.
When my Oura ring flags stress or poor recovery, I listen.
I cancel things when needed. I go to bed earlier. I adjust.
Not perfectly.
But intentionally.
That’s the shift.
Not intensity.
Not “new year, new me.”
Steadiness.
I’ve loved delivering corporate sessions this month on “Feeding Resilience” — helping teams understand how to nourish themselves in times of stress rather than deplete themselves further and it’s been really encouraging to see businesses genuinely wanting to support their staff properly.
Because this is the real work.
Building nervous systems that can cope.
Fuelled bodies.
Clearer thinking.
Less reactive choices.
So maybe January was about setting intentions.
Maybe February was about shedding what didn’t fit.
And maybe March is about movement, but grounded movement.
Forward, but steady.
I’d love to know — what feels like it’s shifting for you right now?
