Feeling the feelings makes us human ✨️
We're programmed through life to be uncomfortable feeling negative emotions.
Happiness, joy, and excitement are all perfectly acceptable feelings for us to sit with and express.
But a lot of us struggle to really feel and fully experience the 'negative' such as anger, sadness, jealousy, and shame.
Nobody enjoys feeling sad or angry, but it's all part of the human experience.
To be human is to feel, and that means all emotions, good and bad.
There is no good with staying stuck in the negative emotions, but there is definitely value in allowing yourself to fully experience them, to sit with the uncomfortable in order to release it from your body.
As humans, we have a tendency to suppress emotions. Shut them down, layer over them, then they're gone, right?
Wrong!
What happens is that energy stores within our bodies. It can build, and it can distort.
You have to feel it in order to release it.
We can drink them away,
Smoke them away,
Work them away,
Exercise them away,
We can have endless s*x to soothe them.
But eventually, they will resurface bigger and louder until they are finally faced!
Find what works for you, find your safe space, and sit with it. Feel it all rush through your body. Cry the floods of tears, scream the anger out.
Feel the uncomfortable, the shear frustration......don't run!
Watch as you begin to notice your body feel lighter, your mind start to clear.
Always make sure you do so in a safe space.
Speak to a professional if it's overwhelming.
But trust in your own strength to overcome the challenge.
Life isn't all rainbows and sunshine. It's a mixed bag of all the elements.
You are far stronger and more resilient than you believe.
Always keep faith that through every storm, the sun will shine again 💛
