Did you know that International Yoga Day was officially established by the United Nations in 2014 — thanks to a proposal from India’s Prime Minister? 🌍 It’s celebrated every year on June 21st, symbolising light, clarity, and the journey toward inner balance.

What’s it all about?

It’s not just about touching your toes or headstands (though those are fun, especially with our Feet Up gadget 😄). It’s a global celebration of yoga’s power to bring peace, strength, joy, and unity — across cultures, bodies, and hearts. 💛

Fun yoga facts:
🧘‍♀️ The word yoga means “to yoke” or unite — mind, body, spirit.
🧘‍♂️ There are more than 100 styles of yoga — from calm and stretchy to sweaty and strong!
🧘‍♀️ Even goats and dogs have yoga classes now

The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky—this year it falls on June 20th. It’s a time to celebrate light, warmth, and the fullness of life.

Many people mark the solstice with sunrise gatherings, yoga, meditation, or simply spending time in nature. It’s a beautiful opportunity to set intentions, reflect, and connect with the energy of the season.

We’ll be celebrating with a full day of nourishing yoga in :
🌞 9:30 AM – Flow yoga by the pool (we have to make the most of this beautiful weather!)
🌿 11:00 AM – Cooling and relaxing Yin yoga
✨ 6:30 PM – Summer Solstice celebration with Kundalini yoga

The fifth NEW MOON of the year is on Tuesday, 27 May - 4:02 am and it is a Gemini New Moon.

This new moon is all about communicating and expanding your mind! This can be very easy in today's world of information overload. So go on, start to write that blog, get going with your live videos, communicate. Just make sure to find the balance, as Gemini can easily overload (as a Gemini, speaking from personal experience here). Any communication is welcome, write a letter, organise a barbecue with friends, family and neighbours, or just simply talk, face-to-face.

✍️ New blog post is out (seem to be on a roll) ✍️!

When you come to a Kundalini Yoga class you will find that we will always start the class with tuning in and finish with tuning out with sacred mantras. These mantras act as energetic keys, aligning us with inner guidance, divine wisdom, and a protective space. Even just listening to these mantras during our day to day life will increase our energy and calm our minds.

If you would like to have an 75 minutes connecting to yourself, learning how to be more stress resilient, improving energy levels, increasing flexibility, muscle strength and toning, balancing metabolism, protection from injuries, getting relief from aches and pains than please come along. Price: £6/class https://www.yogawithdora.co.uk/group-classes ------------------------------ SEMI PRIVATE YOGA CLASSES: (flexible time) in Brough Studio - for busy people, beginners, runners, cyclists, office jobs, mums, etc. Yoga originally was taught from guru (master) to student. The reason for this is Yoga is a work in as opposed to a work out. The poses are designed to heal you from the inside out. Each pose or breathing exercise has specific purposes and benefits ranging from improving circulation, regulating digestion, enhancing metabolism, and improving range of motion to control, balance and more. To achieve this we start where You are. The individual. Learning in a small group or one-to-one gives you the opportunity to get to know yourself, identify your strengths and weaknesses, areas of imbalance, areas where attention should be focused. In a small group there is time and opportunity for detailed alignment of the postures. Yoga becomes truly useful when you can translate this attention and observation into all areas of your life.
