For the attention of Bubwith and Holme Upon Spalding Moor Patients

Dear patient,

Important changes to your GP Practice – proposed change in opening hours of Bubwith branch surgery from 19th January 2026

This is a letter regarding our proposal to change the opening hours at Bubwith Surgery from 19th January 2026.

Our branch surgery at Bubwith has been operating limited medical services for some time now and we have been struggling to recruit for the dispensary team. Following a review of the medical services based at Bubwith, along with the patient footfall for the dispensary we are proposing a reduction in the opening hours at Bubwith surgery. The new opening hours that we are proposing are Monday 8.30 am – 12.30pm, Thursday 8.30am – 6.00pm and Friday 8.30am – 6.00pm. Holme Upon Spalding Moor surgery will continue to be open Monday to Friday 8am until 6.00pm. The Dispensary will continue to be available over the phone. You may opt to collect your prescription from Holme Upon Spalding Moor if you would prefer.

We will be offering a home delivery service to patients who live near Bubwith surgery to enable easier delivery of prescription medication. This will be a weekly service for Bubwith and surrounding villages. Please contact the dispensary team if you would like more details of this.

This letter aims to keep you informed about the planned change and to offer you the chance to share your views on the proposed branch opening time changes. You can also send your questions or comments on this proposal via email to theridingsmedicalgroup@nhs.net. Further information on our proposal will be available in the practice and on our website www.theridingsmedicalgroup.nhs.uk.

We would again like to reassure you that all patients will continue to be able to access medical services across our sites as you do now. No one will need to re-register and people will be able to contact the surgery for appointments in the usual way, either by telephone, online or in person.

At Bubwith, you will continue to have access to medical services during the new proposed hours and at Holme upon Spalding Moor surgery during the current hours. You will also continue to have access to evening and weekend appointments and any other services provided at our other sites at Holme on Spalding Moor, South Cave and Brough in the same way that you do now.

As a result of these changes, there will be no change to the existing clinical team working within the practice. There will be no reduction to our teams who take your calls and there will be no reduction in the number of appointments currently available.

If you would prefer to register with a different GP practice, you may do so at any time. The easiest way to do this is by using the NHS “Find a GP” website - Find a GP - NHS (www.nhs.uk)

Grief touches everyone in different ways, and there is no “right” or “normal” way to feel. National Grief Awareness Week reminds us that support is available, and no one has to face loss alone.

At our practice, we recognise how deeply bereavement can affect emotional and physical wellbeing. If you’re finding things difficult, please reach out. Our GPs and Social Prescribers are here to listen and help connect you with the support that feels right for you—whether that’s guidance from our team, local bereavement services, or community groups.

If you need support:
• Speak to one of our GPs

• Book an appointment with our social prescribers

• Contact local bereavement charities such as Cruse Bereavement Support or HEYmind

• Talk to someone you trust and let them know how you’re feeling

Let’s help break the stigma around grief by encouraging open conversations and supporting each other.
