☀️ KEEPING ANIMALS COOL IN THIS HEAT 🐾

It’s another scorcher out there, and our furry (and feathery!) friends feel the heat just like we do. Here are some top tips to keep them safe and cool:

🐶 Dogs – Walk early or late to avoid hot pavements and scorching sun. Never leave them in a car, even for a minute – it’s deadly. Cool mats, paddling pools, and frozen treats are all great!

🐰 Rabbits & Guinea Pigs – Move hutches into the shade, provide frozen water bottles wrapped in a towel, and check for flystrike twice daily. A cool, damp towel over part of the run can create a shady breeze.

🐱 Cats – Make sure they’ve got shaded spots to snooze and plenty of water bowls inside and out. Some love a cold, damp flannel for a cheeky chill-out.

🐴 Horses & Livestock – Shade, water, and electrolytes are key. Sponge them down with cool water or offer salt licks. Fly masks and fans in stables can help too.

🐹 Hamsters & Ferrets – These little guys can overheat quickly. Keep them indoors in a well-ventilated, cool room, away from direct sun. A chilled ceramic tile makes a perfect heat refuge.

💧 General Rule: If you’re hot, they are too. Plenty of fresh water, shaded rest areas, and cooling options go a long way.

Stay safe, stay cool, and give your animals an extra cuddle (if they’re up for it)! 🐾☀️

If you have any more tips then please share them below 🫶🏻

Today was a hot one at Eastfield Primary school but did all we could to keep our animals cool ice buckets fans cooling matts and iced bottles to lay next to. As the weather is getting hotter unfortunately we will not be doing any bookings in next day or two as this is not fair on the crew. So some time out time to cool down x
