It's a long text, but it's worth reading to the end, as we're talking about one of the most important muscles in your body, one that hides deep within.

It's the psoas major muscle – the psoas.

When it's tight, the first sign is pain in the lower back. But its impact extends much further...

The psoas connects the spine to the legs and thus affects your entire posture. When contracted, it pulls the spine forward and deepens lumbar lordosis. The pelvis becomes anteriorly tilted, the abdomen protrudes, and the lower back becomes overloaded. This disrupts muscle balance – the glutes and abdomen weaken, and the back has to work too hard.

A tight psoas also restricts breathing. It lies very close to the diaphragm, so when it's shortened, breathing becomes shallow. This makes it easier to fall into a state of stress, fatigue, and nervous tension.

The proximity of this muscle to internal organs means that its contracture can cause digestive discomfort, bloating, constipation, and, in women, painful periods. It also affects the tension in the pelvic floor, which can lead to a feeling of stiffness and heaviness in this area.

The psoas also affects the legs. It restricts hip movement, causes stiffness in the groin, and can strain the hip and knee joints. If one side is more tense, the pelvis becomes asymmetrical, which causes compensations throughout the spine, shoulders, and even the neck and head. Chronic psoas tension can sometimes cause symptoms similar to sciatica.

When this muscle is chronically shortened, the body loses its freedom. The posture closes, the abdomen and chest draw closer together, and breathing becomes restricted. Pain, tension, fatigue, and a feeling of the body constantly on the defensive appear.

Releasing the psoas brings profound relief. I experienced this myself some time ago. It wasn't just relaxation in this muscle, but also in my lower back, I experienced fuller breathing, lightness in my hips, stability in my pelvis, and a feeling of increased energy throughout my entire body...

🐉 Gua Sha: Ancient Medicine for Modern Pain

This isn’t skincare — it’s real, hands-on therapy.
I use Gua Sha as a clinical technique to treat:
🔹 Headaches & neck tension
🔹 Sciatica
🔹 Golfer’s elbow
🔹 Knee pain
🔹 Myofascial restrictions

Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gua Sha breaks up stagnation in soft tissue and fascia by using targeted scraping motions that:
✔ Stimulate blood flow
✔ Release tight fascia
✔ Reduce inflammation
✔ Support natural healing

💡 It’s especially effective for chronic pain, overuse injuries, and mobility restrictions. No fluff — just functional results.

Whether you're an athlete, office worker, or dealing with everyday strain, this ancient tool can help restore balance and function.

🛠️ Gua Sha = a timeless method for pain relief without pills or surgery.

🧠 Postural Imbalance Spotlight: Right Pelvic Elevation
🔎 Ever spend hours sitting at a computer, using your right hand on the mouse?
You might be developing an imbalance without even realizing it👇

🧍‍♂️ Common pattern I often see:
➡️ Right Pelvis Elevated

Here’s what’s usually going on:
🔹 Tight Quadratus Lumborum – especially on the right, pulling the pelvis upward
🔹 Tight Psoas – contributing to anterior pelvic tilt and lower back stress
🔹 Tight Adductors – reducing hip mobility and alignment
🔹 Weak Glutes – leading to poor hip support
🔹 Weak Hamstrings – compromising posterior chain balance

💻 Constantly sitting with the right shoulder dropped (from using a mouse) and leaning to one side adds fuel to the fire.
Over time, this posture elevates the right pelvis and overloads the QL.

⚖️ The result? Back pain, tight hips, uneven movement, and poor core engagement.

💆‍♂️ Manual therapy + corrective movement can restore symmetry and reduce discomfort.

📥 DM me if this sounds familiar—let’s get you realigned.

Busy parenting?
Squeeze some core work while cleaning after your loved ones.

💪 Exercise Variations While Cleaning Toys

1. Plank Position Pickup (Your original move)

Hold a plank and grab toys one by one, alternating hands.

Great for core, shoulders, and balance.

2. Squat and Toss

Squat to pick up a toy, then toss it into a bin with control.

Adds glute and leg work, plus coordination.

3. Lunge and Reach

Step into a forward or side lunge to reach for toys.

Alternate legs to work quads, glutes, and hip flexors.

4. Toy Burpees

Place a toy down, do a burpee over it, pick it up on the next round.

High intensity for cardio and total body.

5. Bear Crawl Cleanup

Crawl in bear position (knees just off floor) while collecting toys.

Killer for core, quads, and shoulders.

6. Glute Bridge Pickup

Lie on your back, lift into a glute bridge, and reach side to side for toys.

Targets hamstrings and glutes while engaging the core.

7. Side Plank Reach

Hold a side plank and reach across your body for a toy.

Adds oblique work and shoulder stability.

Those of us who are suffering from lower back pain want nothing more than to get rid of this pesky pain. Many of us feel great after visiting our physiotherapist or chiropractor however the relief may last only a couple of days. One advanced treatment choice, spinal decompression, has been shown to provide many benefits for patients suffering from lower back pain.

At our studio we do have inversion table.

Thus it is very beneficial to find ways in which you can retain the benefits of spinal decompression at home.

It is very important to consult with your healthcare practitioner to make sure that spinal decompression is suitable for your condition and equally important to make sure you are doing the exercises properly.

Hang from pull-up bar

Reach up and grab the bar and allow your body to hang on it

Engage the lower abdomen so your body looks like 5pm on the clock

At the beginning it will be hard to hang for too long so please put a chair in front of you so you can put your feet on it.

Once comfortable increase the amount of body weight that is hanging by relaxing your muscles

Hang for 30 sec to 1 min depends of your comfort levels

Let go of the bar and put your feet on the ground

Take a minute break and repeat 4-6 times

This exercise should be completed 2x/day
