Preventing digital eye strain involves adopting good screen habits and creating a comfortable, eye-friendly environment.
Here are a few effective strategies you can follow;
1️⃣ Follow the 20-20-20 Rule - Every 20 minutes, take a break and look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
2️⃣ Blink more frequently - People tend to blink less when staring at screens, which can lead to dry eyes.
3️⃣ Adjust screen settings - Alter the brightness, contrast and font size to avoid squinting and straining your eyes.
4️⃣ Adjust your screen position - Place your screen about an arm's length away (around 20-24 inches) and position it so the top of the screen is at or just below eye level.
5️⃣ Use proper lighting - Keep room lighting comfortable — not too bright or dim. Overhead or natural lighting should not create glare on the screen.
6️⃣ Take regular breaks - Every hour, stand up, stretch, and focus on something else to rest your eyes and body.
7️⃣ Consider computer glasses - Specially designed anti fatigue glasses can help to reduce eye strain.
8️⃣ Maintain good posture - Sit with your feet flat on the ground, shoulders relaxed, and back supported.
