When you’re struggling, knowing where to turn can be the hardest part. You might feel overwhelmed, or think that your only options are waiting for an urgent doctor’s appointment or going to a busy Accident & Emergency department. We want you to know there’s a better, calmer first step:

🟡 Mindline Somerset: If you just need a friendly voice any time of the day or night, our confidential telephone service, Mindline Somerset, is there for you. You can call 24/7 for a chat, advice, or simply a chance to talk through what you’re feeling, on 01823 276892 or freephone 0800 138 1692.

🟡 Crisis Safe Space: When things feel immediately overwhelming, don’t endure it alone. You can arrange a one-to-one session with a member of our Crisis Safe Space team. They’re ready to listen and help you through moments of distress, offering supportive sessions either face-to-face, by phone, or virtually. To arrange an appointment, just ring the Mindline number above or book a session on our website: openmentalhealth.org.uk

🟡 Mindline Live Chat: Not everyone is comfortable talking about how they are feeling over the phone. Mindline Live Web Chat is available every day from 8pm to 11pm on our website: openmentalhealth.org.uk

⚠️Make sure you order your repeat prescriptions in advance of the Bank Holiday. This helps avoid delays and ensures you have what you need over the long weekend.

This year’s Forget Me Not Appeal is just around the corner, when we’ll be asking everyone to wear their forget-me-not badge throughout the month of June.

This small blue flower represents remembrance, and has long been associated with dementia.

But there are a few different blue flower badges, and we’re often asked what they mean, and who can wear them. None of them mean the wearer has dementia, but here’s what they do represent:

💙 The light blue fabric flower pin is our Forget Me Not Appeal badge. Supporters of the Forget Me Not Appeal wear their badge not only to promote awareness of dementia, but also in memory of or in tribute to a loved one.

💙 Our blue metal flower pin is a symbol for anyone who wants to raise awareness of dementia and support people affected by the condition. Many organisations have flowers, ribbons and other symbols to represent their charity – this is ours.

💙 Our Dementia Friend badge is worn by individuals who have learned a bit more about dementia, what it might be like for someone living with the condition and are ready to take dementia-friendly action. Wearing this badge lets a person living with dementia know that you understand and can provide help.

If you choose to wear any of our three badges, we’d love to hear what it means to you.
