Samantha Davey Hypnotherapy & BWRT

Samantha Davey Hypnotherapy & BWRT Hypnotherapist and BWRT (brain working recursive therapy) practitioner specialising in anxiety. I’m also a registered BWRT® practitioner. Ready for change?

Hi, I’m Samantha – registered hypnotherapist and BWRT practitioner based in Buckfastleigh, also working on-line with UK residents. I specialise in helping people overcome anxiety and supporting women who are struggling with menopausal problems. Hypnotherapy is an enjoyable, deeply relaxing and uplifting experience that can lead to transformation in many areas of life, far more quickly than you mig

ht expect. Hypnotherapy is generally quite a fast therapy – on average clients need just 6 sessions. I can help with many common problems including anxiety, panic attacks, low self-esteem, overwhelm, negative/critical thinking patterns, low mood, phobias, binge eating and unwanted habits. BWRT® is an exciting and dynamic new form of psychotherapy completely different to any other type of therapy you may have experienced. BWRT® is a science based, grounded therapy that can bring rapid results….and unlike many therapies, once we’ve completed your consultation you won’t need to discuss your childhood, relationships, or any trauma you’ve experienced. Most other therapies work on the response after it’s been generated, requiring you to explain what you’re thinking about – but with BWRT® the problem is dealt with ‘at source’ before it even gets to the conscious mind. With BWRT® we can change the way you feel to the way you’d prefer to feel, replacing negative responses with new empowering responses which could include confidence and calmness – in any situation. If you know how you want to be, BWRT® can help you – it’s that simple! Clients generally finish therapy feeling more resilient, confident and capable….with an enhanced overall sense of well-being. You’ll also have a powerful set of tools to cope with the inevitable ups and downs of life. Life can feel better again! I’d love to hear from you. I like to provide a relaxed, comfortable and supportive environment as we work together to achieve your goals. I feel passionate about supporting people to live healthier, happier, more fulfilled lives…. my aim is to bring out the best in you. I understand that asking for help is not always easy, so you can be assured of a sensitive and empathic approach. I offer a free 40 minute face to face consultation, with no pressure to book if it doesn’t feel right for you. I want you to feel confident I’m the right therapist for you. If you’re ready to make lasting changes in your life I’m here to help you.

Self-compassion isn't just a nice idea - it's an evidence based practice that changes your brain🧠✨

I'll be honest... developing self-compassion has been quite a personal journey for me. I used to be my own worst critic, believing that harsh self-judgment would motivate me to be better. Maybe this pattern is familiar to you? But as I know only too well….that just doesn’t work.

Learning to speak to myself with kindness is an ongoing practice - some days are easier than others. But my own experience and that of my clients reflects the research which shows that self-compassion:

💗Reduces anxiety and depression 💗Increases motivation and resilience 💗 Improves emotional regulation 💗 Strengthens relationships …and increases our compassion for others too 💗

In hypnotherapy, we practice self-compassion in a deeply relaxed state where new neural pathways can form more easily. I use the same techniques I teach, because this work never stops - it just becomes more natural over time.

Remember: Self-compassion is a skill. Like any skill, you get better with practice. Be patient with yourself as you learn 😊

As we head into the weekend, what's one small way you can show yourself kindness? 🥰

You are not alone in your struggles 💗
One of the most isolating thoughts we can have is "I'm the only one who feels this way" or "Everyone else has it all figured out."
I’d like to remind you that suffering, mistakes and feelings of inadequacy are part of our shared human experience.

In hypnotherapy, I often help clients connect with this sense of common humanity. When we realise our struggles don't make us uniquely flawed, shame begins to dissolve and healing can begin ❤️

Your imperfections don't separate you from others - they connect you to the beautiful, messy, perfectly imperfect human experience we ALL share 🩷

Save this post for the next time you need a self-compassion reminder 💕

Self-compassion means treating yourself with warmth and understanding when you're struggling, rather than harsh self-judgment 💗

Think about it: When you make a mistake, do you speak to yourself more harshly than you would to a friend? Most of us do 😕

During hypnotherapy, I guide clients to access that naturally compassionate part of themselves - the part that knows how to be gentle, reassuring and encouraging. It's already there; sometimes we just need to remember how to access it ✨🥰

Try this: Next time you catch yourself being self-critical, pause and ask, 'What would I say to a friend in this situation?'

Curious how hypnotherapy can help you develop self-compassion? Let’s chat! I offer free consultations at my therapy room in Buckfastleigh, or on-line. DM me or email info@hypno4freedom.co.uk I’d love to hear from you ☺️

What if the voice in your head spoke to you like your best friend?💗

Self-compassion isn't about being easy on yourself - it's about treating yourself with the same kindness you'd show a good friend facing a difficult time. Research shows that self-compassion actually motivates us more effectively than self-criticism.

In my hypnotherapy sessions, I help clients rewire that inner critic into a supportive inner guide ✨ The transformation can be amazing 🥰

Sleep Tip #9: End Your Day with Gratitude for Better Sleep ✨
Here's a bedtime habit that helps you fall asleep more peacefully while actually rewiring your brain for greater happiness. As you settle into bed each night, spend a few minutes reflecting on your day with these gentle questions:

💗What or who are you grateful for today? Maybe it's your morning coffee tasting just right, a text from a friend, or your cat/dog being really cute.
💗What went well today? Think beyond the big wins - perhaps you handled a tricky situation calmly, made someone laugh, or simply got through a challenging day.
💗What made you smile? Those fleeting moments we often forget - a dog you stroked while passing by, a song that came on the radio, or catching a beautiful sunset.
💗How did you positively impact someone else? Even tiny gestures count - holding a door, listening to a colleague, or smiling at a stranger.

When you focus on positive moments before bed, you're calming your nervous system and shifting away from the day's stresses. Your mind gets the message that you're safe and can let go into rest. Plus, this practice trains your brain to notice more good things during the day, creating an upward spiral of well-being😊

Think of it as the perfect nightcap for both your sleep and your overall happiness 🥰

And if you're struggling with sleep despite trying these tips, remember that hypnotherapy can be wonderfully effective for addressing sleep problems. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to explore how we can work together to help you get the restful nights you deserve 👌😴

Sleep Tip #7: Your Lifestyle is Your Sleep's Best Friend ✨
Think of quality sleep like tending a garden - it needs the right conditions throughout your entire day, not just at bedtime. Here's how to create that perfect sleep-supporting environment:

💗Move your body, but time it right. Regular exercise is like a natural sleep medication, but working out too close to bedtime is like drinking espresso before a nap. Aim to finish intense workouts at least 3-4 hours before you want to sleep.

💗Fuel yourself wisely. Your body is constantly working behind the scenes to prepare for rest. Feed it well with balanced meals at consistent times - your internal clock loves routine! Aim to wrap up eating about 3 hours before bed so your digestive system can wind down too.

💗Give your mind a daily reset. Just as your body needs movement, your mind needs stillness. A simple 10-minute mindfulness or meditation session - whether it's morning breathing exercises, a midday meditation app, or gentle evening stretches - helps your nervous system learn to shift into calm mode when bedtime arrives.

💗Be strategic with stimulants. That afternoon coffee might feel necessary, but caffeine can stay in your system for 6-8 hours. If you're aiming for 10pm sleep, make 2pm your coffee cut-off. And while that evening glass of wine might make you feel drowsy initially, alcohol actually fragments your sleep and steals your precious deep sleep stages.

💗Stay hydrated, but smart about it. Think of hydration like watering that sleep garden throughout the day, then tapering off in the evening to avoid those 2am bathroom wake-ups.

Your daytime choices are actually night-time investments. Small, consistent changes in how you move, eat, drink, and breathe can transform your sleep quality in ways that surprise you 😊💤

Ready for deeper change? If you're struggling with sleep issues, racing thoughts at bedtime, or waking up tired despite getting enough hours, hypnotherapy can support you to sleep restfully again 😴 I'm currently accepting new clients for sleep-focused sessions. Email or DM me to book your free consultation. I'd love to hear from you 🥰

Sleep Tip #6: Your Body Has a Built-In Sleep Timer
The longer it's been since your last meal the hungrier you get, right? Your body has a similar system for sleep called "sleep drive" - and understanding it can be a total game-changer for your sleep quality.

Here's how it works: the longer you've been awake, the stronger your urge to sleep becomes. It's like your brain is quietly building up sleep pressure throughout the day.

But here's where people mess up: when we have a bad night's sleep, our first instinct is to go to bed super early the next night to "catch up." It seems logical, but
going to bed before you're actually sleepy is like snacking when you're not hungry. It reduces your sleep drive and can make insomnia worse, not better.

The golden rule: Only go to bed when you genuinely feel sleepy, not just tired or because the clock says you should. And stick to your regular wake-up time even after a bad night. Allow that sleep drive to build throughout the day - your brain will thank you with better, deeper sleep 🌙💤

Sleep Tip #5: Stop Clock-Watching Your Way to More Stress!
You know that 3am panic when you check your phone and instantly calculate how little sleep you'll get now? Your brain might like doing those automatic calculations, but your sleep certainly doesn't!

Here's the fix: flip that clock around or put your phone face-down across the room.

If you're lying there wide awake (and your mind won't settle with a breathing technique or meditation), give yourself about 20 minutes before getting up. Then do something relaxing - read a book, do some gentle stretches, or sit quietly with a herbal tea. The key? Don't peek at the time! Let sleepiness come naturally instead of adding deadline pressure to an already restless night.

Your bedroom should feel like a peaceful retreat, not a countdown timer😴

If you're struggling with sleep issues, despite these tips, hypnotherapy can support you to sleep restfully again 💤 I'm currently accepting new clients for sleep-focused sessions. Email or DM me to book your free consultation. I'd love to hear from you 💗

Sleep Tip #4: The Safe Place Visualisation 🌙
Transform your bedroom into a gateway to deep, restorative sleep with this simple, yet powerful technique.
Close your eyes and imagine a place where you feel completely safe and at peace - perhaps a cosy cabin with a crackling log fire, a sun-dappled woodland clearing, or a quiet beach at sunset. As you settle into this space, engage all your senses: feel the warmth of soft blankets or cool grass beneath you, hear gentle sounds like rustling leaves or waves lapping the seashore, notice the golden light filtering through the trees, or the colours in the fire, and breathe in calming scents.

The more vivid and personal your safe place, the more effectively it will guide your mind away from daily stresses and into deep, healing sleep😴
