Turra Physio is the only clinic north of Glasgow that currently offers High Density Laser Therapy with traditional Physiotherapy treatment.
High Density Laser treatment is an evidence based, non-invasive, drug-free, and FDA-cleared treatment option for acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
Laser therapy uses a process called Photobiomodulation to change the condition of damaged tissue by stimulating normal cellular metabolism.
The treatment effects are :
- Decreased inflammation and swelling: which can reduce or alleviate pain.
- Analgesic effect: By suppressing pain receptors and increasing the release of the body's natural endorphins.
- Accelerated healing: The increased cellular metabolism and blood flow speed up the body's natural repair process.
Patients often experience some relief within their first treatment but may need 3 to 6 sessions to get the full benefit of the therapy.
The total number of treatments can vary, based on the specific condition. Chronic issues may require a longer treatment plan.
This treatment modality is an excellent adjunct to Physiotherapy as pain and inflammation symptoms can be initial barriers to the exercises, soft tissue work and manual therapies, that can then be used to get to the root, and treat your problem.
Alternatively, the therapy can be used for management of pain in chronic conditions, providing non-pharmacological pain relief, for example, in an individual on a waiting list for joint surgery, and there is also evidence of the modality being used to accelerate wound healing.
