👶🏻 Newborns are tiny, perfect and vulnerable.

❌ While it’s so tempting to shower a new baby with kisses, it’s important to remember: kissing a newborn can put them at serious risk.

🦠 Babies have very fragile immune systems. Even a simple cold sore (caused by the herpes virus) can be life-threatening for them.

Other common infections like RSV (a respiratory virus) can also lead to severe illness.

🌼 The NHS advises to:

😙 Avoid kissing newborns, especially if you’re feeling unwell, have a cold sore, or even mild cold symptoms.
🧼 Wash your hands before touching a baby.
😓 Stay away if you're feeling even slightly under the weather.

💪🏼 It’s all about keeping these tiny humans safe while they grow stronger!

5️⃣ In honour of Bowel Cancer Awareness month we’re ask you to share this with 5 friends to help raise awareness of the symptoms.

🫶🏼 Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK so everyone should be aware of the warning signs.

Other symptoms may include:

🌼 changes in your poo, such as having softer poo, diarrhoea or constipation that is not usual for you
🌼 needing to poo more or less often than usual for you
🌼 blood in your poo, which may look red or black
🌼 bleeding from your bottom
🌼 often feeling like you need to poo, even if you've just been to the toilet
🌼 tummy pain
🌼 a lump in your tummy
🌼 bloating
🌼 losing weight without trying
🌼 feeling very tired for no reason

🙏🏼 If you have experienced any of the symptoms above for 3 weeks or more please see a GP. Having these symptoms doesn’t always mean you have bowel cancer but it’s important to get checked out to rule it out.

⚠️ Kawasaki disease affects around 8 in every 100,000 children each year in the UK. It’s rare but it can be very serious so it’s important to be aware of the symptoms.

🙏🏼 It can't be prevented but children can make a full recovery within 6 to 8 weeks if it's diagnosed and treated promptly.

🤰🏻 About 1 in 4 pregnant women in the UK have a caesarean birth — some planned, some as an emergency when things change unexpectedly.

⏰ Most C-sections are done with a spinal or epidural anaesthetic — you’ll be awake but won’t feel pain. A screen will block your view, but the team will keep you updated. You might feel some tugging, and the whole thing usually takes 40–50 mins.

🤔 Who’s in the room?

🌼 Your birth partner (unless under general anaesthetic)
🌼 A midwife
🌼 A consultant obstetrician or registrar
🌼 An anaesthetist
🌼 An anaesthetic nurse
🌼 A scrub nurse
🌼 A theatre nurse
🌼 A paediatrician
🌼 Medical student (with your approval)

🙏🏼 It can feel overwhelming when the room fills up — especially in an emergency — but every person is there to support a safe delivery for you and your baby.

🥰 If baby’s well, you’ll usually get skin-to-skin cuddles right away.
