We were pleased to host officers from Thames Valley Police last week for an important talk on fraud prevention. Scams are constantly evolving, and keeping our residents safe is our top priority.

The officers provided essential, practical tips to help everyone safeguard themselves against phone, post, email, and doorstep scams. We learned about not sharing bank details with strangers and knowing that police or banks will never ask for your card details over the phone.

The session was hugely beneficial, empowering our residents with increased awareness and confidence to spot and report potential fraud. This knowledge provides peace of mind for both our residents and their families.

A big thank you to Thames Valley Police for their invaluable advice!

We had an incredible day celebrating International Men's Day with a special visit from the local car club Milton Keynes Classic Car Club (MKCCC)!

Our residents' faces lit up as they explored the stunning vintage cars, sparking wonderful conversations and trips down memory lane which is great for MORE...socialising and reminiscing. Events like this are so important; they help reduce feelings of loneliness, stimulate memories for those with dementia, and remind everyone of their cherished past experiences and shared interests.

A huge thank you to Milton Keynes Classic Car Club (MKCCC) for making this day so memorable and special for the gentlemen (and ladies!) of our home!

We're proud to host a wonderful Gentleman's Club at Lace Hill every month! On the first Thursday of the month, the gents get together for our popular "Pie and a Pint" event. It's a great opportunity for relaxed chat, listening to music, and enjoying good company.

Our last get-together was a brilliant Bonfire Special, complete with a fun quiz about Guy Fawkes and bonfire night traditions! We always welcome relatives and friends to join in the fun too.

These monthly clubs are fantastic for building friendships and providing a relaxed social environment. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next one, a Christmas Special!

What a fantastic week we’ve had here at Lace Hill.

Those living with us have been busy from start to finish, embracing a wide range of activities designed to boost their physical and mental wellbeing. We had some delicious fun making pizza muffins, a social activity that encourages interaction and MORE...creativity.

In addition, we enjoyed MORE...fresh air with walks outside this week, which has been wonderful for everyone’s mood and physical health. Our regular visit from Ruby the Pets as Therapy dog brought endless smiles and comfort, with animal interaction being great for emotional health. To keep our residents moving, we used the Motiview Bike and had Fitness with Alfie, enhancing MORE...movement and keeping hearts healthy.

We also welcomed a lovely lady who gave us an educational bee talk and delicious honey tasting, which stimulated cognitive function and provided new learning opportunities. Our creative side also came out as we made colourful fireworks for Guy Fawkes using forks with the help of students from Lace Hill Academy.

Finally, we welcomed back students from Stowe School who helped run our weekly bowls club, fostering fun competition and teamwork. Every activity provides opportunities for residents to engage, laugh, and live life to the fullest and we love keeping them active and connected to our community.

To celebrate Remembrance Day, our home was filled with quiet reflection and gratitude as we marked Remembrance Day.

Those living with us crafted beautiful tissue paper poppies and shared stories, providing a meaningful way to express emotions and honour the past. This activity was not only great for MORE...creativity, but MORE...connection too.

On the Sunday, we observed the two-minute silence at 11am and watched the service together. In addition, on November 11th we did the two-minute silence, followed by a presentation and quiz on the history of the 11th, which added an engaging and educational touch to the day. These activities help stimulate memory, encourage social interaction, and provide a vital connection to our shared history.

We welcomed back Singalong with Singing Gwen again this week, who holds lively, interactive music classes for babies and toddlers.

Those living with us absolutely love Singalong with Singing Gwen, and it is an excellent way to boost both their mental and physical health. Singing familiar nursery rhymes and classic songs enhances More...Reminiscence and More...Sensory, as it can help residents unlock memories, providing joy and a sense of purpose.

Singalong with Singing Gwen will be back bringing the festive spirit on Tuesday 2nd December at 11am as we enter the busy Christmas period!🎄

We've had another amazing week here at Lace Hill, packed with engaging activities designed to keep those living with us happy, healthy and connected.

We got creative in the kitchen, making delicious mug cakes. Baking stimulates the senses, boosts memory recall, and provides a wonderful sense of accomplishment. We also enjoyed our weekly 'Just Bowl' session, a great low-impact exercise that improves hand-eye coordination and muscle strength. A huge congratulations to Barbara for winning the monthly tournament again for another month in a row! Can Barbara make it a hat trick and win this month?

To enhance MORE...movement, we used our Motiview bike for virtual travel experiences, which keeps everyone physically active, improves mobility, and sparks great conversation. Our Thursday Quiz Club kept minds sharp and encouraged MORE...socialising.

We also used the interactive Magic Table to promote MORE...sensory and got into the Halloween spirit with a screening of Hocus Pocus in our cinema room for our Friday Film Club.

As always, our weeks here at Lace Hill are never dull!

Those living with us had a hauntingly good time at this week's flower arranging activity, with a very special Halloween twist thanks to our amazing carer Donna! They swapped vases for pumpkins and filled them with beautiful blooms, showing off their artistic flair.

More than just a pretty decoration, this hands-on craft is excellent for cognitive stimulation, keeping minds active and engaged by encouraging planning and More...Creativity. It's also great for More...Socialising, as working on a shared project together is a wonderful way for those living with us to chat, bond, and reminisce over Halloweens past 👻

Happy Halloween from everyone here at Lace Hill Manor!
