We welcomed Paul McPartlan to our Christmas Market at the end of November. This was the first of many events we have over the festive period.

We were joined by over 20 stall holders from the local community, as well as friends, relatives, and those living with us.

A Christmas market visit can be a real boost for wellbeing. It’s a feast for the senses, twinkling lights and decorations, the sound of carols and friendly chatter, and the comforting smell of festive treats like mulled wine. This change of scenery helps break up the routine and lift spirits, especially for those who might feel isolated.

It’s also a great chance for more natural social interaction, whether chatting with staff, other residents, or even meeting people from the local community. These moments help build a sense of belonging and connection.

The festive atmosphere often sparks more positive memories, bringing back happy times from past holidays. This nostalgia can create feelings of joy and inclusion, making everyone feel part of the seasonal celebrations.

We were delighted to have the Buckingham U3A recorder group come and play for us. They played a range of Christmas carols, and music from Italy, along with talking us through the various recorders.

We sang along to the delights of Silent Night, Away in a Manger, and Jingle Bells ...... providing us with MORE Christmas cheer and MORE reminiscence! Music, especially singing, boosts mood, reduces anxiety and sparks cherished memories.

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the incredibly talented Liz and Devinder from the award-winning creative arts team, IN2CULTURES, to Lace Hill this week! 🥁

Residents were captivated by their dynamic drumming performance, which brings together cultures from around the world. Liz and Devinder’s impressive highlights include performing everywhere from the House of Commons and the American Embassy to the Lunar Festival and a Curry Festival in Spain!
The benefits of experiences like this for our residents are wonderful, as exposure to diverse art forms and music broadens horizons, provides new learning opportunities, and fosters an inclusive community spirit. The rhythmic drumming and vibrant dancing are also fantastic for stimulating the brain, improving coordination, and encouraging MORE...movement in a fun, accessible way. Finally, music and dance are powerful mood boosters; they evoke joy, encourage emotional expression, and often spark happy memories and MORE...reminiscence, enhancing overall emotional well-being.

A huge thank you to IN2CULTURES for such an engaging and uplifting visit! We can't wait to have them back!

We're officially getting into the festive spirit here at Lace Hill! Our residents have been busy putting up beautiful Christmas decorations and creating their own unique Christmas trees in our Creative Club this week. 🎄✨

The joy and creativity flowing through the home have been wonderful. Engaging in these festive activities offers numerous benefits for our residents, as activities like decorating and crafting encourage mental stimulation through problem-solving and decision-making, along with enhancing MORE...creativity. The cheerful atmosphere and shared experience of decorating together also naturally lift spirits, helping to reduce feelings of isolation and sparking wonderful conversations and MORE...reminiscence about past holidays. Furthermore, completing a creative project or contributing to the home's festive look provides residents with a fantastic sense of achievement, belonging and purpose.

Seeing the smiles on everyone's faces and the beautiful results of their hard work truly makes the season bright. Stay tuned for more festive fun as we count down to Christmas!

It was good fun as we wrapped up the last of our monthly "Just Bowls" tournaments this week! A huge round of applause for Derick, who bowled his way to victory this month! 🏆

This tournament has been a wonderful addition to our activities planner, bringing a touch of friendly competition and excitement to everyone involved. The benefits of regular activities like bowls for our residents are fantastic, as it is a low-impact activity that helps improve coordination, balance and gentle mobility. Furthermore, the tournaments provide a fantastic opportunity for residents to have MORE...socialising and laugh together.

Congratulations again, Derick! Here’s to many more fun activities and competitions in the future!

National Movement Day might have been on Friday, but here at Lace Hill, we decided to celebrate the power of movement all week long! 🥳

Movement is so vital for both our physical and mental well-being, and we've loved seeing everyone get active. We had the amazing Move with Ruth to lead a fantastic session, alongside our brilliant Activities team who ran our regular classes.

We also enjoyed some friendly competition with games like Tin Can Alley, which is great for boosting coordination and accuracy, and Just Bowls, which promotes balance and social connection.

Every bit of movement counts, and the benefits are huge, from improving mobility and lifting our spirits to strengthening our minds and helping us feel more connected. Movement Matters, is not only about enhancing MORE…movement but MORE…socialising and connection too.

Thank you to everyone who took part!

Simple joys, big benefits! Team work makes the dream work!

Our lovely new Lifestyle team member, Michele, and Andy, who owns Leeder's Hardware in Buckingham, worked together to create this amazing fidget board which is now hanging and being used in our first floor lounge. A fidget board is designed to offer a variety of tactile and sensory experiences.

This wonderful tool helps keep hands busy, minds engaged, and reduces feelings of restlessness and anxiety. It's a great non-pharmacological way to support the well-being of those living with us, providing More... cognitive stimulation and focus, More... dexterity and enhanced motor skills and More... Calm.

Now, lets get fidgeting .......
