Therapy isn’t only for moments of crisis. People seek support for many different reasons, often personal and sometimes hard to put into words.
This might show up as anxiety, low mood, exhaustion, overwhelm, or a sense of disconnection — or as something harder to name.
For others, it’s shaped by trauma, relationship patterns, or a feeling of being stuck, unclear, or out of alignment with how they want to live. For some, it relates to patterns they want to understand or change — habits, coping strategies, or ways of responding that no longer feel helpful.
Often, these experiences live as much in the body as in the mind. For some, talking alone hasn’t been enough.
Therapy can also begin with slowing down, regulating the nervous system, and paying attention to what’s happening beneath the surface.
You don’t need to have the words yet.
Support can begin in different ways.
For some, that beginning happens in nature.
𝗘𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮-𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱: trauma lives on in the body, fascia, and even at the cellular level — long after the conscious mind has made sense of it.
Left unaddressed, this embodied residue can silently shape our health, stress responses, and quality of life (Van der Kolk, 2014; Porges, 2011; Schleip et al., 2012; Cox et al., 2021).
The Chiron Series meets this need through a structured, personalised approach that blends advanced psychotherapy, somatic trauma resolution, and natural medicine. It is designed for those ready to support their nervous system, rewire deep-seated trauma patterns, and create lasting regulation — gently and effectively.
Why Trauma Lingers — Even After Therapy
Many people who come to the Chiron Series have already done significant therapeutic work. They've read the books, been in therapy, trained as practitioners themselves, or even supported others in their healing — and yet, something still feels unresolved.
They describe lingering patterns in the body, nervous system, or emotional landscape: feeling chronically on edge, shutting down under stress, emotional highs and lows that don't fully resolve, or a pervasive sense that something isn’t quite integrated. They’ve gained insight, but the nervous system hasn’t caught up. This is not a failure of therapy — it’s a reflection of how trauma embeds itself in the body, fascia, and physiological systems.
The nervous system, fascia, and even the mitochondria — our cellular energy generators — hold the imprint of chronic stress and trauma long after the conscious mind has processed what happened (Van der Kolk, 2014; Porges, 2011; Schleip et al., 2012; Cox et al., 2021). When these systems remain dysregulated, we can continue to experience fatigue, reactivity, emotional volatility, immune issues, and a subtle but persistent sense of internal disconnection.
A specialist, evidence-based trauma programme for those sensing something still unresolved — in the body, in the nervous system, or in how life is being lived.
This 10-week 1:1 programme is designed for those who’ve already had therapy — perhaps even trained in it — yet still feel the effects of something lingering. Whether emotional, physical, or harder to define, this is an opportunity to address what hasn’t yet been met, processed, or fully integrated.
This is a unique, evidence-based, trauma-informed, body-mind programme that blends:
• Advanced Psychological Therapy
• Naturopathic Insight & Natural Medicine
• Somatic Trauma Work & TRE®
• A personalised written therapeutic + naturopathic plan
• Weekly 75-minute 1:1 sessions
A safe, structured space to bring the final threads of trauma into resolution — with a fully qualified, experienced professional.

❗THE HIDDEN DANGERS❗TIPS & TOOLS FOR MANAGING...
Experiencing anxiety, burnout, trauma and depression has sadly become the norm. But what many don’t tell you about are the risks of living in these prolonged states without seeking help.
Unresolved stress, trauma, anxiety, and burnout don’t just “go away.” Over time, they can place enormous strain on the body:
• Adrenal exhaustion – leaving the body unable to regulate energy and mood.
• Cardiovascular stress – increased risk of high blood pressure and heart disease.
• Digestive damage – ulcers, IBS, and inflammation of the gut lining.
• Immune depletion – more frequent illness, slower healing.
• Organ impact – especially kidneys and liver, which are heavily affected by long-term stress hormones.
In my recent blog I offer tips on how to recognise the signs and tools for managing this.

The Gut–Brain Connection: Why It Matters for You and Your Animals
Gut health isn’t just about digestion — it’s the foundation for mental health, emotional balance, and long-term resilience. Whether human, horse, or dog, the gut communicates constantly with the brain via the gut–brain axis, influencing mood, immunity, and behaviour.
Pharmaceuticals are metabolised in the gut before entering the bloodstream. If medication can alter body chemistry and brain function this way, it makes sense that what we eat and drink — and what we feed our animals — has the same power to influence mood, cognition, and behaviour.
The microbiome — trillions of beneficial bacteria — plays a key role in producing neurotransmitters like serotonin, regulating inflammation, and supporting the immune system. When balanced, it helps you (and your animals) feel calm, focused, and healthy. When disrupted, it can contribute to anxiety, low mood, skin issues, digestive problems, or even lameness and behavioural changes in horses.
In my work as a naturopath and psychologist, I’ve seen targeted gut support transform wellbeing:
-Calmer, more focused horses after restoring forage-based diets and herbal support.
-Dogs with reduced itching and anxiety once gut bacteria were balanced.
-People experiencing clearer thinking, better mood and physiololgy, and improved energy.
Top Tip: Try adding organic apple cider vinegar (with “the mother”) daily to drinking water — 1 capful for dogs and humans, ¼–½ cup for horses — ideally first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. ACV is a natural pre/probiotic, supports the microbiome, helps neutralise toxins, and aids liver detoxification.*
Small changes to nurture the gut can create a ripple effect through every system of the body — for you and your animals.
*Always check with a vet or healthcare professional before introducing new supplements.

Bridging the Gap Between Mental and Physical Health
One of the ongoing challenges in both psychotherapy and healthcare is that mind and body are often treated as separate. In reality, they are inseparable. The way we feel emotionally influences our physiology — and what happens in our body profoundly affects our mood, cognition, and resilience.
This is why I developed a Combined Psychological & Naturopathic Assessment. It’s designed for people who want a truly integrative, evidence-based understanding of their wellbeing — one that looks at the whole picture rather than isolated symptoms.
The process involves:
Taking a full health and psychological history
Analysing your presentation through both psychological and naturopathic frameworks
Producing an integrated treatment plan that draws on modalities such as medicinal herbalism, homeopathy, nutrition, lifestyle changes, and evidence-based psychotherapeutic strategies
Providing a short psychological report to make sense of the patterns, processes, and factors influencing your wellbeing
Offering a detailed naturopathic formulation and plan to address root causes and support long-term balance
This approach has been particularly valuable for clients with complex or long-standing challenges where traditional single-discipline interventions have plateaued.
It’s a privilege to work in this way — honouring the complexity of human (and animal) health while offering a clear, actionable pathway forward.
If you’d like to learn more about the process or explore how it might fit into your care or practice, you can find further details here:

From Psychology to Naturopathy — Bringing It All Together
For as long as I can remember, animals have been my greatest teachers. They’ve shown me patience, connection, and perhaps the most powerful truth of all — there’s no placebo effect with them. When they heal, something real is happening.
Over 15 years ago, my curiosity about how the body heals naturally led me into herbal medicine, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, and other naturopathic approaches. These aren’t just things I “do” — they’re part of how I live. I’ve watched herbs shorten recovery from illness, seen homeopathy help a dog survive poisoning, and witnessed anxiety melt away through natural, body-based support.
Alongside this, my professional path has taken me deep into the worlds of psychotherapy, supervision, and trauma recovery. I became a registered equine-facilitated psychotherapist and clinical supervisor, with doctoral-level training in Counselling Psychology specialising in somatic, equine, and nature-based practice. I’ve worked with the NHS, private practice, charities, and internationally, designing programmes, training practitioners, and supporting complex cases.
One thing has become clear:
The body and mind are always in conversation.
Lifestyle, relationships, and environment shape our health.
Food, water, sleep, and movement aren’t “extras” — they’re foundations.
The gut is a perfect example. It’s where medications are absorbed — so of course what we eat and drink can affect our mood, focus, and emotional balance.
Bringing psychotherapy and naturopathy together feels like the most natural step — one that allows me to care for people, practitioners, horses, and dogs in a way that honours the whole being.
Over the past year, I’ve been reshaping my professional practice to bring everything I offer for people, horses, and dogs, into one accessible home — making it easier for you to explore, connect, and work with me in the way that suits you best.
Alongside my long-standing work as a psychologist, clinical supervisor, trainer and specialist in somatic, equine, and nature-based practice, I have additionally completed formal training in Naturopathy and am now a Registered Practitioner with the Complementary Medical Association.
This builds on over a decade of applied practice, research, and mentorship with exceptional human and animal practitioners, now strengthened through professional registration, allowing me to provide enriched, holistic care for people, animals, and the professionals who support them.
To simplify access and reflect my integrative approach, I’ve brought my three existing platforms — Psychotherapy in Nature, Psychotherapy Training Hub, and Equine Enlightenment — together into one space, whilst continuing to offer the same services you know from each:
-Psychotherapy and clinical supervision
-Naturopathy for people, dogs, and horses
-Accredited CPD and consultation for practitioners
-Retreats and bespoke therapeutic programmes
-TRE®, equine, canine & nature-assisted interventions
In the months ahead, I’ll be sharing more about accredited CPD opportunities, immersive retreats for clients and professionals, and ways to work with me both online and in person. All services can be booked directly via the website.
I look forward to connecting and collaborating as this next phase unfolds.

Combining traditional room-based 'talking therapies' with Equine, Canine & Nature assisted therapies for positive, long-lasting results.
Equine Enlightenment offer a broad range of traditional psychological services, including assessment, formulation and NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) evidence-based psychological therapies, as well as clinical supervision and CPD for practitioners.
Our broad range of therapies offer an alternative solution for clients who find it hard to open-up, talk, or trust, or would like to try something different to a ‘clinical’ setting. It encompasses a safe, containing way of supporting clients at their own pace, whether in nature, with horses or dogs.
"I hold the rich relationships and experiences gained through this work as a clinical supervisor as an important part of our process to enjoy together."
Clinical Supervision
Philippa is a qualified clinical supervisor with a doctoral training background in Counselling Psychology. She is a registered member of the BACP; Graduate member of the BPS; Senior Member and Clinical Supervisor of the ACCPH and Registered Senior Practitioner and Clinical Supervisor of LEAP Equine.
Philippa offers a broad base to explore how best to support your professional goals and clinical practice; whether you are a trainee, qualified, or seeking to explore innovative ways of improving how you work.
She has worked in long-term private practice, as well as multi-disciplinary teams and the charity sector. She is an associate providing psychological therapy for an international residential rehabilitation clinic in Holland, incorporating complex individual and family case work. This is in conjunction with her work as an equine facilitated psychotherapist. Philippa has currently and previously supervised a broad range of practitioners, from in-training counsellors, transpersonal psychotherapists and clinical psychologists, as well as equine facilitated psychotherapists.
Philippa has a strong formulative approach, providing a platform for evidence-based practice. Trainee's in particular find this aspect very useful for improving technique and gaining confidence for integrating theory into practice in varying clinical settings. She uses Hawkins and Shohet's Seven Eyed supervision model as a base for sessions to encompass a structured, systemic, yet process-orientated approach.
Continued Professional Development
Continuing professional development (CPD) courses are run on topics relating to Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy and Learning. Specifically, Equine Enlightenment has designed two models that offer training to enhance practitioner’s work.
