🪾Winter Solstice - Yule 🪾

The Solstice is upon us and today marks the 1st day of winter. The shortest day and the longest night. The least productive time in natures annual cycle.

Yule is a celebration of the rebirth of the sun, for after the longest night the sun will again begin to grow stronger.

The Yule Log represents the return of the sun, mist for fertility and holly for protection.

This is a time honoured tradition when our ancestors gathered to welcome the return of the sun. At the winter solstice the sun appears at its weakest form but this is also the turning of the sun to start returning back to us readying itself for the warmer seasons.

Tonight we start to burn the Yule Log and also tonight starting on the Solstice we start to burn one-by-one our intentions from the wish tree.

13 intentions are tied to the Wish tree. 13 for myself and 13 for my husband. Quietly chosen by ourselves, not discussed, not judged. Tonight we will each choose one from the Wish tree and burn one each. Tomorrow one more and so on until the 2nd January when we will be left with one intention each. That intention will become our responsibility for the year ahead. Our intention, our goal, our job to care for this intention.

So as we place the Yule Log upon the fire,
And make wishes of hearts desire,
Honour the flames that warm the cool,
With blessings to one and all this Yule.

⭐️ The Year of the Horse ⭐️

I invite you to sit back this December and reflect on your year 2025. You may need to look through your photo library of all the memories you captured.

What went really well? What was truly wonderful and stored into your memories forever?

What points did you dip? What did you learn? How did you change? What did you release?

It’s been rollercoaster year, mostly full of highlights and wonderful plans. A holiday back to my birth home to see family, namely my daughter. Reconnecting this year with friends who came to stay and who I was able to see back home. I started ballet which I absolutely love! I discovered my health issue and found a resolve which was excitedly a missing supplement from my life. I will choose a supplement any day over medication. Enjoyed another wonderful year with my husband and our lovely dog, our family. I kept writing my first book!

But on the other side, I started going to therapy in June when I wasn’t making sense of some things I was feeling. That led me to some really big realisations and growth. I used these tools to reframe relationships and to also let some go. The work I put in was so valuable to me. And recently I learnt a big lesson about valuing myself when I wasn’t being treated well within my business.

It’s been a Year!

But because of these I’m truly looking forward to next year - The Year of the Horse - For me, the Year of Value.

We are not alone out there with our stuff. We are all one in this together.

My HVR December blog is out on my website. This month I’ve embraced my empathic spiritual side and shared how I look after my energy in my cabin on a daily basis.

I also use this technique outside of work when I’m in situations I know I don’t always feel prepared.

It’s so nice to back into routine, something we all crave and love, even if we don’t like to admit it.

I haven’t sat at my desk and written any words for what seems so long, but is only a month. Yesterday, I took an opportunity to tidy everything up, cleanse the space and set a small ritual ready to start the week off today. Back to normal.

After popping out to visit a friend this morning, I am getting on with all of the ideas and creativity that buzzes around my brain non-stop.

Did you know today was the first day I left the house in a week! After landing back in the UK last Monday, I walked around the house like a zombie for two days, had the next four days working full time and then Sunday we hung out as a family with an aim to go out but never did.

To be honest it just proves that I’m a true introvert. I have returned from a beautiful but busy city and I’ve needed time to re-ground myself back into the clay of the Northern Hemisphere. I’ve really enjoyed just being at home.

What am I writing? My head feels like a million things need to be written down and I’m going to try and assimilate these today. My writing this last year has really highlighted my neuro-diversities, which I am working to embrace alongside my HSP strengths. So, like everyone else, I am a work in progress, as is my writing!

HVR is back from my wee jaunt in Australia & NZ. 😀

Not loving the cold but coped ok yesterday back into it frosts and all.

Lots of good times, time spent with loved ones, new places discovered and some wee treats brought home.

A busy full working week but also a week being kind to myself as I get into routine and put the jet lag behind me.

Happy to be nurtured by the husband & our fur princess 🐕

‘As I was sweeping some of the oak leaves off our lawn, I noticed how the soft, spongy carpet of grass and moss has been replaced by another sensory treat, the satisfying crunch underfoot, paired with what I can only describe as nature’s reflexology, gently pressing through the soles of my boots.’💚

As I was sweeping some of the oak leaves off our lawn, I noticed how the soft, spongy carpet of grass and moss has been replaced by another sensory treat, the satisfying crunch underfoot, paired with what I can only describe as nature’s reflexology, gently pressing through the soles of my boots. 💚

We’ve been left with an abundance of acorns scattered across the grass like tiny nature gems, slowly nestling between blades of green as gravity tucks them into the warm earth.

It feels a little early for a mast year, that remarkable cycle every 5 to 10 years when oaks produce an overwhelming bounty of nuts to outsmart the small, furry mammals and ensure the next generation survives. I can’t help but wonder, though, after one of the driest years on record, could this be less of a cycle and more of a panic response? Perhaps nature’s way of protecting her own future.

So today, I’ll be glad of the wet weather, one of life’s most precious commodities and think of those who need it the most. 🌳 Let’s put on our wellies and go singing in the rain. 🎵
