We always appreciate feedback from families at that most difficult time.

Hi Paul

I am just writing to say thank you for the beautiful Devonshire Eco-Casket you made last month for my Mum, Kathleen. It won praise from everyone, funeral attendees and professional staff alike.

Thank you especially for the efforts you made to accommodate Dad’s ashes and for the lovely inscription on the lid.

The funeral took place on a beautiful sunny day, with butterflies and dragonflies all around, and Handel’s Messiah ringing out!

Warm regards,
Michael

Our Story

Feet First Coffins offer hand built Eco-Coffins & Caskets using only locally grown and sourced solid timber, constructed using peg and dowels and using traditional hand tools so they contain no screws, nails, metal hinges, or heavy chemical based glues in our construction, all are individually handcrafted and designed to return to the earth naturally.

Feet First Coffins are made using only locally sourced timber lined using fair-trade 100% non-bleached natural cotton with locally grown organic meadow grass hay padding, with handles made from either natural fair-trade rope or wooden handrails. Any paints used are natural chalk based and any waxes used are Homemade Natural Beeswax based and are fully biodegradable, they are perfect for environmentally friendly natural burials and green cremations, whilst offering a very low carbon footprint.

Originally we were building coffins for friends and family, due to continuing and expanding requests we decided back in 2008 to open Feet First Coffins to offer our services to the wider public, whilst keeping the same small friend and family level of service.
