1. Cleanse properly at night (no excuses)
Make it clear: this is non-negotiable. Removing makeup, SPF, and grime prevents breakouts and dull skin.

2. Double cleanse when wearing makeup/SPF
Start with an oil or balm, then follow with a gel or cream cleanser. It’s about thorough, not harsh, cleansing.

3. Use the right cleanser for your skin type
Dry skin = cream or milk cleanser.
Oily skin = gel or lightweight formula.
Not everything suits everyone.

4. Don’t rush it
Spend at least 30–60 seconds actually massaging your cleanser in. Quick splashes don’t cut it.

5. Don’t cleanse your face in the shower
Most people shower in water that’s hotter than their face can handle. Heat can weaken your skin barrier, leading to dryness, redness, and sensitivity.

Three months ago, Claire walked into my salon on a Friday morning and said, “help me.”

At 55, she felt tired, stuck in routine, and had lost confidence in herself—especially with a university reunion coming up. “What’s the point in bothering with my skin?” she said. “I don’t go anywhere.”

Today marks 30 years since I started nursing at university, and I honestly don’t know where those years have gone.

It has been a journey filled with incredible highs and some very difficult lows, moments that have challenged me, shaped me, and made me the person I am today. Nursing has never just been a job to me — it has been a privilege and a huge part of my life.

I’ve been fortunate to work across numerous field’s from trauma and orthopaedics, community, DWP, management, and now aesthetics. Every role has brought lessons, memories, and experiences I will always carry with me.

One of the greatest privileges of all has been caring for people at the most vulnerable times in their lives, especially those at the end of life. To be trusted in those moments, to offer comfort, dignity, and compassion, is something I will never forget and will always hold close to my heart. Being with someone and their family as they take their last breath is an honour I never took for granted.

Along the way, I’ve also had the joy of working with some truly incredible colleagues — many of whom have become lifelong friends. The laughter, support, teamwork, and friendships have meant more than words can say.

Thirty years later, I am still so proud to say I am a nurse. Proud of the work, proud of the profession, and grateful for every patient, colleague, and experience that has been part of this journey.

Here’s to 30 years of caring, learning, laughing, and making a difference. 💙

Facial aesthetics isn’t about vanity — it’s about self-care, self-respect, and feeling confident in your own skin.

Looking after yourself doesn’t make you superficial. It means you value yourself enough to invest in how you feel, inside and out. For some, that’s skincare. For others, it’s treatments that help restore confidence and bring harmony to features.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look refreshed, feel more like yourself, or show up in the world with confidence. Self-care is personal, and confidence looks different on everyone.
